when lagged you should be invulnerable

Othmaar: It's a good idea, but don't you think that would cause players to stop actually playing? "Oh, I'm being attacked... AutoBot should finish this up nicely."

I do, however, like the idea of a server-side bot that takes control of your ship if you start to lag (like Infinite_Skillz). The way Vendetta handles it (I believe) is that if you start to lag, the server treats it as if you've stopped making control inputs - basically you float in a straight line - if a bot's shooting at you, it decides that the bot has hit you a certain number of times until you die. If the lag ends, what your client thinks was happening differs from what the server thought was happening, so the server overrides the client, and informs you that you died. If a LagBot (or somesuch) were implemented, the server would assume control of your ship to try to prevent your being killed while bots or other players shoot at you. It basically evades shots, and otherwise boosts for the 3000m limit, makes sure you're safe, and logs off. The server would still override the client if your lag spike ended before the Bot logged you off, but at least you'd have a better chance of being alive.

This isn't actually how it happens. Try doing a lateral turbo immediately after a lag spike starts.

Well ... you would not get any XP for the kill if you the bot was engaged while shooting at the bot. I believe that would encourage most to fight manually. Besides, the skill of the Auto combat bot should not be so good that it easily defeated other bots. The ship should sustain enough damage to decide that manual piloting would be more efficient.

The main uses of the bot would be:
1) Save your a$$ during lag
2) As a watchdog while your focus is diverted. Examples: mining, chatting, pouring a cup of coffe, answering the door or your phone etc. You would be able to take control of the ship after you set the coffee mug down, or finished a sentence without being crippled by the attack.

Anything placing the control of the player's ship under the control of someone other than the player wouldn't be a good thing IMO.
