I understand people's desire to catalog who owns what charactors, but in the long run this is detramental to proper role playing.

If there is a spy in your guild you should find them the old fasioned way. Give out some targeted information or whatnot.

But how can someone find out whar chars i own by the char ID? its set by char creation? Or so i though, the only char I have from alpha is yodaofborg, the only char I have from beta still is degobar, same account, totally different char id's....

Character ID is per character, not account. When you create a character, you are given the next available number. My Whistler character is #98, but I have others in the 15000s and some higher.

OK, never mind then. I didn't look that closely at it. I guess neither did the people I was listening too... Or is there another, more insideous charactor identifier?

The only way to find alts right now is to parse the error log and invite everyone on VO into your buddy list. No, apparently you cannot debuddy unless it's mutual. Beware of people who invite everyone as a buddy.
