what if in each sector or maybe just some sectors if you went really far out (like 200000m there was a band of roids with really good ores in them. that would be my best idea ever!

epada, that kinda already exists. in some *empty* sectors, there are roids. a few of there roids usually has something nice. but the roids in these *empty* sectors with the nice ores are waaaay far out. good idea though.
