CtC Logoff Warning

Mar 21, 2005 kihjin link
A few minutes ago I sort of stumbled onto something I wasn't aware of that made me lose 5 cu of Pure Xith. It's no big deal, and I'm not upset about it, I just wish I'd of known this would have happened. If I'd of known, I wouldn't have done it. Here's what happened:

I had just exited a wormhole when VO started acting strangely, my FPS was about 1/5 of what it normal is. It was really jumpy and hard to fly in. So I jumped to an empty sector, and then tried to switch screens several times to get it to redraw/refresh. If that doesn't work, I usually have to log out in order to restore VO to it's proper visual display.

So... I logged out. There was the 10 seconds count down. And then I logged back on, and my 5 cu of Xith was removed. My display was normal, again, however (in case you're wondering :-P)

Now, I certainly wont be making that mistake any time soon, ever again. But, someone else might, for the same reason, for different reasons. Either way, I suggest that there be a Warning Message of some sort... indicating that by logging off, you will forfeit the Pure Xith cargo.

<question>
Also, I suppose this raises other questions... what if I were to have troubles with the game, lets say it crashed, or my computer froze up, or I lose connection, is that automatic forfeiture of the cargo?

The CtC cargo is lost when you log off, voluntarily or not.

Now here is another CtC warning: Itani will be after you anytime you are seen next to a transport route :)

Hmm, I thought i was just ejected into space, not lost?

I'm not totally sure, Spider. The only thing I know for sure is that I tried several times to recover cargo after a loading screen freeze that forces you to log off, but never found it. I also remember searching the Bractus/Odia wormhole with Cyranius (who had just been disconnected there while he was carrying cargo), again without success.

Well, what I know for sure is :
timeout after exploded/forced ejection is shorter than after droppd cargo.

My guess is that cargo thats ejected when you logoff has that same ridiculously short timeout, which means that sometimes you find it, most times you don't.

It's dropped, I think, cuz I've logged off, and logged back on really quickly and it was sitting in front of me.

It's ejected.

I had to log off too and took some time to return to the empty sector and I was able to find the cargo by turboing into the void.

So you can recover it if you go to your last position when you logged.

Funny how everyone detracted from the main point of this thread I started.

The point is, you lose the cargo. You forfeit it without question, or any sort of warning. In fact, searching on many sites, I don't see anything that tells me that this will happen.

My suggestion is simple: A warning message, much like the warning message that appears when you try to dock to another station with the cargo (other than the station you wish to deliver to), appears telling you that if you log off, your cargo will be lost.

Oh and Sun Tzu, your "warning" is meaningless since the Itani couldn't spot a Cap ship going after their transport if they wanted to. The only time I'll be chased is after its discovered that your precious cargo has been stolen.

Take it the flame way if you like. I just wanted to let you know in advance.

Actually I was just role playing :)

No hard feelings eh? :-P
