SURGE OF IDEAS! - THIS GAME NEEDS A BOOST 'Yawn'

Hi, ive recently been playing the online trail on mac os 10. Yeah it looks ok, processor cuts through it like a peice of piss, thats all good, but the game play is slowwww and theres not much to do. Heres some suggestions!!

SHEILDS - Ships are destroyed too fast!, it should be much harder to destroy a ship, ive been in the control panel once or twice and by the time ive been warned about an attack im back at the space station, so theres no time to react.

SPACE STATIONS - Why cant you get out of your ship and purchase the parts at a shop, meet people etc. i know other online games do this, it would be great.

BUY YOUR OWN STATION - Not sure what to do with the money? save it up and buy your own station. You can either buy small or big, customise the design by choosing which modules you need. Mange everything, automated security, checking for smugglers, making sure shop owners pay rent on time, you can turn it into a floating shopping mall. you get the idea.

JUMPS - Every jump looks the same, how about randomising the colours and camera views for each jump, even better show the ship going through the worm hole. etc.

ION STORMS - Are gay, how about a bigger on screen warning, or a sexy female voice announcing youve gone off track, how about damage to your ships propultion and various other things, what about getting lost occosinaly in a black hole where everybody helps each other to escape etc. It would be good to switch to an interior view and control your charecter walking around your own vessle to repair its systems.

GAS - We need more gas clouds, like in startrek armada where they can affect ships systems if you fly into them.

USER INTERFACE - Needs redesigning to be easier to understand and use. There need s to be a small section also where you can track your own stats easily such as licence level number, money etc all on one report.

AUTO PILOT - You should be able to program the computer to fly the ship its self, and choose the parameters which dictate the way it reacts to situations while your away. For instance, im on a mission, i program my computer to constantly travel using turbo and i tell it to travel 5 sectors away when its finshed trading. This is much better than spending the time holding the tab key down.

VIEWS - The abiltility to choose between cockpit view or from outside the ship.

TRACKING - Be able to set the ship to follow one of your friends and create a convoy

BUDDY LIST - Displays all of your mates online and reveals their location and how long they have spent playing the game.

VOICE CHAT - Talk between friends or send sub-space hails that can be recieved by everyone.

DOCKING - If your friend has a bigger ship, wouldnt it be ace to dock with it and get out of your own and climb inside his upto the bridge and share the same view. There could also be other control panel so that during an attack your friend could take tactical.

RANDOM ALIENS - How about random attack by stange folk, could even breech your hulll and come eat you up.

MORE SPACE PHENOMENON - Wouldnt it be cool to have stars just go supernova if there was too much pollution in the sector caused by heavy traffic, they could expell shock waves that destory some or damage ships near by. It a lot more exciting than just a screen full of stars.

PLANETS - Why cant there be solar systems like the one we live in. How about a recreation of the earths solar system and the abilty to land on planets. Break through the atmosphere and land inside gigantic skyscrapers or scenic parks.

MAP - Wouldnt it be good to see where everyone is. When you view the solar systme your in dots could represent you and other ships in the system so you know where the party is.

COMMAND LINE INTERFACE - Is too awkward, everything need to be point and click.

ok well thats about everything i can think of right now but im sure i can think of some more when i get bored.

No offence to the makers intended, but i hope these ideas are worth taking forward because it would make the game a lot more interesting as there is nothing to do.

Lets see here:

Shields - Mentioned several times, may or may not be implemented.

Space Stations - Mentioned several times, requires new game engine to do and would require the devs to work on nothing else for a long time to make.

Buy Your Own Station - Soon, hopefully

Jumps - Couldn't agree with you more.

Ion Storms - I would love an in-ship nav computer that talked and gave verbal warnings, maybe someday.

Gas - Been mentioned, maybe someday.

User Interface - Everyone dislikes the interface, will be updated at some point.

Auto Pilot - Some feel this would take away from the game, and you CAN lock the turbo key so that you don't have to sit there.

Views - You can switch your vies, though there is no "cockpit" view at the moment.

Buddy List - Is in game and functioning

Voice Chat - There are a few links that discuss 3rd party software that you can use.

Docking - When player owned frigates appear this will happen.

Random Aliens - Has been mentioned, might see when first expansion is out. (Exploration Expansion)

More Space Phenomenon - I agree there needs to be a lot more of these types of things. Suggest more specifics and how they would work.

Planets - Been discussed to death, review previous posts for comentary.

Maps - This is a great idea, all ships should be able to have Long Distance Sensors that can pinpoint rough locations within a system of players. Though this would eliminate the ability to loose a pursuer simply by jumping quickly between a few sectors. May not happen.

Command Line Interface - I'm not a big fan of it myself, but it's hear to stay. With the game mostly twitch-based anyway, there isn't much time to take your mouse and click on a bunch of buttons. Though once you get the hang of the alias/bind funtion you can set up some nice buttons to do most anything.

the funny thing is that i can't tell whether this post is meant to be a parody of the typical newbie suggestions or whether the poster is actually serious. i fear the second may be the case.

if so, msb221, did you see the pinned thread at the top of this forum entitled "PLEASE READ PRIOR TO POSTING A SUGGESTION"? please, um, read it.

Vendetta is still a living entity in that it continues to grow and evolve. It was released without many of the polished features that the development team would have liked because an income was needed to continue development at the rapid pace we have become accustomed to. See the In Progress link in the upper left margin for more info.

okay, I'm a unix-person, but one of the best things with the Vendetta interface is the command line interface. the thing I hated the most about EvE was the interface. clutter, and nine gazillion places to click. Vendetta is clean in that regard. it's not like we have anything we need to click at in combat or anything else to click at, you hit a key and activate a bind.

besides, it's generic, once you get the concept of the interface, you've got it all. there is no "where is the button to do this"-issue.

About that shields bit...

Since this is a twitch based game a fight between two good pilots can last up to 15 minutes, actually... it's not like you are relying solely on your stats to survive in a battle; it's your reflexes.

As you play the game you will find that your life expentancy in battle will grow and grow, based solely on the fact that your piloting proficiency increases.

that's assuming you get better, some people could potentially be playing at their best already. Plus theres the fact about hardware differences. It's not ALL skill. Then there are ship configs that work better then others, it's just another "any givin sunday".

I just have one small problem with the "being able to see everyone" idea... not EVERYONE WANTS to see seen, so, maybe, people can either have the Long Range Scanner, or a Long Range Jammer.

Some of your suggestions are quite good, but most WOULD take up all the Dev's time and nothing else would get done. Hopefully some are already in the pipeline, which would be great!
