There's much more. You could reinstall, hop on channel 100, and ask where the action is.

Yet more evidence that the game is NOT DONE!...

The noob boredom issue was because he was ignorant to the other activities Vendetta offers. That's not entirely his fault, as we need more ways to immerse new players right away. The tutorial is a good start.

The experienced player's boredom results from not having enough to do that is interesting to that player. We know that more content will be added.

This issue is arising due to a terrible tutorial, you need a voice tutorial to make people feel more invovled!

A voice one thats more specific and covers more stuff and MUST have a repeat/go on option to type in like every sentence...then a replay at the end...

EDIT: I never took the regular tutorial so i dunno if its good now or not...but i hear its not...

Voice tutorial means more content, and it also means hiring a professional voice actor. It's money, it's download time, it's disk space... If a text tutorial is too much for a given user to handle....

the game is in serious need of better documentation. new players are not inclined to read the message boards or hang out on 100, so many probably never even realize that the game includes things like CtC, cap ships, pirates, and so on before they get bored and leave.

and the game IS top heavy. what would help more than a tutorial is a few more *interesting* PvE missions at the lower levels. i.e. before players are ready to get involved in CtC, etc.

don't use the cap ship as a selling point it doesn't even work yet, it just blows up, ctc is on the outs anyway, or in need of serious adjusting. Yes, PvE content at lower levels will keep newer player, AND it will quell the bordome of some of the upper level players too. Documentation is in DESPERATE need for newbies, perhaps instead of starting new players in channel 1 for help, start them in 100 so they see everyone talking and then it's explained that channel 1 if for help? would stop all the people from saying "/join 100 if you want to be helped" comments, and new players wouldn't feel so alone since there chat window isn't filling up. Giving newbies more equipment to use at the beginning has also been suggested before and it probably a good idea too. I did the tutorial when I first started and it was helpful but getting to it at first was the hardest part since the interface is not as great as it could be. It dosn't explain everything though and does leave a lot to be taught though mentorship and general help in /1 and /100.

Hiring a professional voice actors for games is not really a must, look at Blizzard, a number of their voice actors work there as customer help people, programers and such or are family members. Plus most voice actors work for peanuts anyhow, it's the professional studio session time if used that costs real money. Although with a decent microphone and a very quiet room set up just right you can get good quality voice work then buff out any minor background noise out in your sound software or add comm line noise to cover it up. The main thing though as many reviews of this game state, it's suffering from a lack of content as there is little to do, voice overs would be nice but part of what makes a RPG a RPG is the ability to outfit your character and having many things to do with your character, both of which are still missing.

Newbies get bored easily because the people who play a lot are most often in grayspace. I hear this a lot from new players: "There's no one here!"
They are usually correct. Most capitol stations have bots but no active players there. I suggest the following:
Until the amount of new players signing on gets to be more, have all the new players start in the same station. All Serco in Sol II. All UIT in Dau. All Itani in Itan. At the same places that the capital ships spawn.
Then at least they will see higher-level players boarding a huge ship, headed off to war, and this may get them excited.
Also, then a guide can set up shop at ONE station and do the most good, showing new players around - perhaps several at a time. If guides do this, I say they should have their monthly fee waived in return for doing it during certain times.
There could be a specialized "closed" guild for guides, and their designation would be something like "[GUIDE] RelayeR" or something like that.

i think one of the bigest problems is that you don't even see ships and equipment that you aren't nearly high enough level to purchass them. when you first start and can only see the gov issued equipment and a couple other weapons and maybee another ship, the game gets dull. new players just don't know what they are working for.

[edit/ i also like the idea of having all new players start homed to the station where their cap ship spawns /edit]
