Ship Color suggestion

Most ships (besides vulture) when you change the color it only changes a little bit of the ship. i think there should be a primary color, and secondary color, you can already change secondary color, but primary, (grey part of the ship most of the time) you should be able to change in 2 different options

We need some kind of two color system and instead of the colors we have now, use the photoshop cs color system that way we can hav a massive variety of colors

Yes, because photoshop invented the color system. Things like the color wheel (1) and the color triangle (2) didn't exist before Photoshop CS. And, of course, any other method for choosing the color of a computer-generated object would clearly be infringement of Adobe's patent number #######. Especially on teh intarweb, where they have a blantant theft of the propriatery Adobe RGB standard (4). Hell, let's even throw visible light in with that!

PS: I did ask for a color triangle awhile ago. Personally, I'd prefer a text input box. It's easier for me to remember that my ships are #00ff00 than to remember that they're 2cm from the right and 1.92cm from the top.

while i would like something like a color triangle or rgb sliders, i can make do with the limited swatches. howeever i would definately like to have the ability to controle the secondary color.

Settle down Rogue, no need to get angry. And why are you coloring your ships green? Thats not very IDF of you...

An improved color selection method (#8080ff + triangle selector) is a must, but adding a second color to the ships would require some texture reworking I think (based on what ray said about the capship color)

"[100]<raybondo> it doesn't have dynamic coloring enabled in the texture
[100]<raybondo> i'l have to get waylon to redo the textures I guess"

Actually... without some major redesign of the ships, adding a secondary color would be very difficult. (Or would require everyone to run directx 9.) Right now, the texture map just has an alpha channel that says which parts should get colored. We'd need to add a whole nother texture for the secondary color... which just makes all the shaders that much more complicated, and which requires older hardware to render ships in three passes. Not fast.

Yeah, plus all the textures would need to be redone.

The current color swatches were made by taking a screenshot of the Photoshop CS color picker and scaling it down. :)

i had a fealing that if it were as easy as i was thinking it would have been done already. I supose we will just have to make do with one color untill the devs have enough time to bother with something this trivial, and complicated.
