VO on Windows 7 RC

Jul 23, 2009 skelbley08 link
Has anyone else tried the current version of VO on Windows 7? I'm running Build 7100, and it crashes every time I open it. Tried the compatability settings as well.

I don't expect to get it working on this, but is anyone else having this problem?

I'm using Windows 7 RC 64bit 7100, and have ran VO on 32bit Windows 7 7100 too, no problems on either, even voice chat works. Have you installed the latest drivers for your graphics card? Most decent card makers have Windows 7 drivers already, as the driver base is identical to Windows Vista.

I hope this works, because I just subbed back to this game to get away from Jump to Lightspeed. I, too, am running the 7100 build and I am *NOT* updating my drivers for my card, as the 190 series drivers are AWFUL on the GTX 275 right now.

To conclude this thread, it was the an issue with the DirectX driver and my integrated chipset, which has been fixed as of VO 1.8.84.2

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM with 190.62 Nvidia drivers I have no problems. Loaded and started playing, I did not tweak or change anything. Not running in admin or compatibility mode. It just works.

I am using Windows 7 Professional (not RC, final version), and all runs correctly, because i did following changes in .exe properties bar:
1. Run as administrator (checked)
2. Run with Windows XP Serverpack 3 Compability.

everything runs fine *except I get distorted sound, that strangely enough will go away temporarily if I switch audio drivers back and forth, ugh

Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and x86-64 (Both RTM) both work fine for me. I didn't have to do anything with compatibility and whatnot....

I noticed that as long as I use 7.1 sound instead of plain stereo, the distortion goes away. Yesterday, I had switched to stereo because the dialogue in Fallout 3(center chan.) was not working, causing the distortion to return in VO. At least I know how to fix it now.

Yeah, I am actually having the sound distortion as well. Everything is coming out really high pitched. If I switch to the wav driver the pitch is correct but the audio stutters.

Are you still running this on Windows 7 RC? I'm now using the full Windows 7 release, and no longer have this problem. Likely an issue with the RC. And seeing as how the timer runs out in a short time...

Running VO on windows 7 ultimate.

absolutely no problem.

I'm still having trouble with one Windows 7 machine, but not another even after reinstalling the final version. I get the feeling it might be more of a hardware issue combined with Windows 7. The machine in question uses NVIDIA's Ion platform and I am using an optical audio connection.

I'm running this on W7 Pro 7100, and am having an extremely odd issue. Beginning when I Accept the EULA, and lasting until I exit the game, I hear an odd almost buzzing sound coming from my tower. When I look around in game, the pitch of the sound increases or decreases. Not sure what controls the pitch. When I fly toward a station, it gets lower and lower, till it eventually is nearly inaudible. I have absolutely no idea at this point.

I have the sound distortion with the vista sound driver, and stuttering if I switch to the wav driver.

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]

Auzentech X-Fi Forte, with latest drivers.

Does anyone have any kind of solution to this?

There were changes recently with the Vista audio drivers. Does this problem still happen, ledskof?

I have windows 7 and am having no problems except maybe now and again when the game changes location it sounds like somebody just kicked the record player. :)
