Windows 10 DX11 unable to Full Screen

Nov 06, 2015 itanchat link
When I try to use fullscreen on the DX11 driver on my laptop I end up with a basterdized window pushed off the edges by the Title Bar.

Windows 10 Pro
AMD A10-7300
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon R5 M200
Yes, my laptop has a separate GPU from the APU, and they can run in Dual Graphics mode. No, this did not make this laptop a amazing gaming machine, but it does ok for what I use it for. Yes I did try disabling the Dual Graphics to see if that would fix the issue, it did not.
I also tried editing the config.ini to windowmode=1, same basterdized full screen behavior. Also tried without skins and add ons.

Going to the DX9 driver fixes the issue, but then of course no dynamic lighting. So not a huge priority but I would like to be able to record footage on my laptop in DX11 mode, so if there is some sort of solution or workaround I'm all for it.

Hi LazyPC. Although I feel your pain, you should try harder to hide your username, that's really easy to unblur (maybe just do not post an image of the login screen?)

Other than that, this used to happen on my dual GPU laptop too. It seemed to fix itself with a driver update, have you installed the drivers from amd.com or are you just using whatever Win 10 comes with? If the latter, update your drivers dude (go to amd.com and stuff, do not use Windows update). If the former, eh euhum, dunno!

Thanks yoda, I had a momentary lapse and forgot that my username is exactly the same as my forum name... go figure.

I know I have Catalyst Control Center installed and if normally notifies me of updates, but you are absolutely correct in that I need to go check that.

The Lenovo ThinkPad series also has this one connector dock thing that might help/hurt the situation, but I was having trouble getting the display and network part of the dock working so I just will have to keep pushing until I either figure it out or give up and shoot swarms out of my armpits.

Hmm. I have an AMD setup at home, but not using Windows 10. I would guess this is a Windows 10 + AMD issue. We'll see what we can do, but we don't have any development machines with that configuration, right now.

Now this has changed, but between a major windows update, updating to the latest AMD drivers after more problems with this dumb laptop dock, and the latest VO updates with all those UI enhancements I have no idea when this changed.

I can get a proper fullscreen, however now I cannot get a proper windowed mode, windowed mode is missing the entire titlebar, making it unmovable. Tested in both DX11 and DX9

I will do some more testing without the dock at home since my desktop is also Win 10, AMD based.

Did some testing on my desktop, removing all of my plugins and deleting my config and wgaf files to get a stock setup.

On DX 11 the client would open in fullscreen, then on some event trigger would get kicked into the windowed/fullscreen from the OP. Typically about 10-15 seconds after opening. If I went into the video settings and re-applied fullscreen, I would get another 10-15 seconds of fullscreen before resetting itself into the fullscreen/windowed mode again. But, on my desktop windowed mode was fine with the correct titlebar and such. At first I thought it might be my game recording software that was causing the issue so I disabled that as well with no results. DX 9 was fine in both fullscreen and windowed mode.

Copies of my config, directx9, directx11, and wgaf files

Ignore everything here, I apologize for wasting your guys time. What worse is that I have been through this before with other games...

My sister tried playing tonight on our kids computer... that actuallly has a NVIDIA 6xx (I forget exactly) in it, and was having the same symptoms. So I started thinking, because I knew this couldn't be a general issue with Windows 10 otherwise there would be more written about it. Then it struck me...

Teamviewer

I love it, it links my 4 work computers, 2 home computers, and mine and my gf laptops, makes my life much easier... But then I forget it does shit like this

So if you are having the same symptoms, exit teamviewer, or put up with it.

Ahhh! You know what? That may have been what fixed it for me too! I stopped running TV on start up because it was interfering with Shadowplay! I think it was around that time I stopped getting this issue too.

I've had this problem a couple of times. I have windows 10 w/ nvida gtx950m. It usually happens if my game crashes due to a plugin error and the only way I can fix it is just to restart my laptop.
