Apr 29, 2005 macguy link
Well, I got tiger today through fed ex. That was fast considering it only shipped yesterday from what I guess is a distributation place in PA. Anywoo I don't think I'll be installing it just yet. I'm going to a tiger release party at an apple store by me. If I'm convinced I'll install it.

Anyone else having funny slowdowns in asteroid fields. I'm running with everything up, and FPS claims around 50fps or so in an a field but it will feel like 5 - 10 fps.

Weird

I assume you're all running tiger talking about this right? So I guess that means it runs. Is it playable, like are there any major problems yet or no. I wanna know before I install it.

WOOO! I installed tiger. MMM dashboard.........mmmmm. Well it's still indexing my spotlight thingie but so far everything is going OK. It's weird how it's a new version but yet I still feel at home. Now lets see how vendetta runs!

Weird, Tiger improved VO performance a great deal for me. (then again, I was upgrading from 10.3.6, so I didn't experience the 10.3.7, 10.3.8, or 10.3.9 changes...)

Upgrade from 10.2.8 to 10.4 currently about 25% completed. Laptop really, really hot.

I noticed a performance boost going from 10.3.9 to 10.4 I was able to bump up the Texture res and some other settings. Shaders and glow still give my Powerbook's vid card (GF 5200) the creeping death though :(

Tiger is way, way faster than Jaguar. And cooler too!

hmmm, i really need to get more ram :D

Awww damn

Tiger is really really really cool EXCEPT they nerfed the Nvidia drivers. It turns out it's not just RGlow but also something else (maybe shaders) that gives me 5 - 10 fps on occasions when the game's reporting 50. :(

I haven't really tested it much yet as the NV6800 still can grunt it's way through most issues I come across.

Is it just be or do the asteroids and such just look better? I didn't even turn anything up and it just looks smoother to me. I've got a 1.25Ghz emac with a ati radeon 9200 with 32 megabytes of ram. Will tiger help my graphics in vendetta? What should I turn up first?

Hmm. My VO fps dropped from ~30fps to ~4fps. Same settings (1024x768, Medium, Shaders + Rglow off). Also of note- I get no more than 8fps regardless of what my settings are.

[edit]Battery life improved. My 12" PB was on from 3:30 in the afternoon until 9:30 at night. I turned it off with 3% battery power remaining. :D[/edit]

OK, installed tiger, so far all works great. VO seems to run a bit smoother as well.

any programers out there?
can someone take apart the WOW status server widget and make an active VO player list, that would be COOL!

He made a program that when you give it buddies will tell you if they are online in vendetta! Not a widget but it kinda does what you said. I suppose you could put everybody you know of as a buddy on there and it would work like an active player list.
Anyway.....
Is there a certin url we'd have to use to make such a widget. Also keep in mind you need to be logged in to see the active player list. But I guess the widget could just have you log in. I'd like to try my hand at such a widget. So devs, is there some special URL or something that I could use that would JUST give me the data of who was online along with their faction?

LOL There's already a 10.4.1 and the thing isn't even a week old yet.

That's good. It'll help fix some things. Although this os I heard took months longer to come out than the last major one(panther). Hopefully this will fix all the bugs that I haven't encountered yet.
