OS X Illumination Map FPS Droppage?

Sorry if this was posted before. I just got back into Vendetta and I was tweaking my settings when I noticed that turning illumination maps on reduced my framerates by 15-20 FPS. I don't know why. This never happened to me before. Would this be considered a bug or a feature?

This should probably be under OSX support.

Anyway, try turning your buffers off in the config.ini file

dovertexbuffers=0
doindexbuffers=0
do_compiled_vertex_array=0

These are what I've changed to 0. I stopped getting horrible FPS after playing for a while and it may well solve your problem too.

Ahhh... the ol' extension disabling trick. I tried this back in the alpha version, when there were performance issues on the Mac version then also, and unfortunately it ended up killing my performance instead. But I decided to try it again just for kicks to see if it would solve my problem.

Well... it didn't improve performance, but it didn't kill it either. I'm now able to play with Illumination mapping turned on (yay, glowy windows for all!) without a performance hit. So I suppose it's a step up.

Still, I'd like to know if this will ever be fixed. I don't like the idea of turning those extensions off, since I'm sure they were meant to improve performance more than kill it. At least that's what my past experience seems to have shown me.
