Knock knock
Whos there
Vendetta
Vendetta who?
Vendetta just crashed your entire computer for the seventh time (within two days)!

Um, yah, very annoying, your flying around, then BOOM everything stops moving but you still hear the sound of your ship (welll any sound that was playing when it froze) if you try to apple, option, esc, it will bring the mouse back after a couple times, but advenchually you will have to apple, ctrl, power button. GRRRRRRR, i lost my vulture because of this!

Mac os X 10.2.5
iBook 800 mhz G3

It's unlikely to be Vendetta at fault. I run (occasionally) on the same hardware config with no problems.

You might have bad RAM, or a corrupted system crital file somewhere. (Or bad RAM that caused a corrupted file.) Unfortunately, there's no easy test for either.

Do you have any other unexplained crashes or glitches? How frequently?

We can safely change that number to 8 crashes now...
Hrmmm lets see, safari (beta 2 v73) crashed once, and well, thats it.
I think i'll install black and white to see what it does...

Safari... no, any internet browser is going to crash, it's thier main function. It's very odd that your system would just up and crash like that, whithout any warning or anything. Does the screen just go black? Did you try the programmer's key? I can't remember any of the commands and I can't find my MacBIOS book, but I think SF will have it. I think it's "C D" or something. But don't try it yet. If you don't have a programmers button then... I don't know what else to think.

Nope, nothing went black, it stayed the same and flat out crashed, you could hear whatever sound was running when it crashed, but the sound just keeps on looping, then you force restart.

Haahahaha.. i've only seen crashes like that on OS 9 or lower, an di know exactly what you mean by it. How to fix it... no clue. my advice: get more RAM. And reinstall OS X.

Nah. He has the exact same setup as I do (it's 384 megs, SL! :P), and I never had anything like it. 384 megs is definitely enough ram...

Lets up it to 10 crashes!

I crashed last night (April 15, EST) due to a certain char "Blue Pirate 2" who spammed the message "spam." My connection timed out before I could "/ignore 'Blue Pirate 2'." Upon reconnecting, I launched from the bay in Sector 7, only to have the computer freeze much like SL described it. Everything (and I mean everything) froze, and the engine sounded was looped and multireplicated. Restarting solves it, but it sure is annoying. Fortunately, my bounty (2300) was left alone. :)

Up to 7 crashes now. Always doing too many things at once....

Open console and type quickly when death animation is playing.
Hit "u" repeatedly when changing sectors.
Leave chat window open when dying.
Boost, change camera views, and fire at once....

It always crashes OSX, too! :(

Ummm i don't call this one too gameplay intensive;

Flying
Flying near roid
Flying near station

Yeah, there seems to be a serious crash bug in this release. I just got the new version. Connect, buy the bus, fly to sector 12, approach robots to get some bounty cash, crash. The screen freezes, the sound loops, completely unresponsive. It's happened several times, and since it requires a force restart, I guess I won't be playing for a while.

Also, my character started out with zero cash after the reset. Is this normal? If so, the only way to get cash is to go out and kill, which could be annoying to newbies who can't even fly straight. Definetly give characters some seed money.

Hey ! i had also this crash sometimes. But it occured only with texture settings too hight for memory on the computer. Try to lower texture quality. and it should work like a charm.
ps: to get better FSP i deactivater the tri/bilineare filtering. Now it is really faster !
