Saitek 3d gold calibration problem

May 28, 2006 siris link
I searched the board for this but couldn't find it (someone kindly direct me if i missed it :)

I'm having a problem calibrating my Saitek USB 3d gold (it's from a few years ago, not sure how different it is from current models). At some point with vendetta (earlier releases) I must have been able to calibrate it, but recently when i make an attempt now, vendetta will not allow the full range of motion for any axis. If i press the "reset" button, I can move it through the axis, but only at opposite extremes (it basically turns into a "gamepad" like control, either all or nothing). I am seeing this problem on my G5, but i also see it on my macbook Pro. Once i attempted to calibrate, my settings were then "screwed" so i literally had to grab the config.ini file (or whichever has the stick settings) from an old copy of Vendetta where they were still intact.

Nothing seems to be wrong with the joystick otherwise, because again if i load up an old config file (that was calibrated some time in the past) the joystick works pretty much ok. But i can not re-calibrate to fine tune, nor can i use the joystick on a new vendetta install that has never "seen" it before..

If anyone knows if i'm missing something let me know...

do you have gamepad companion installed? setting up the axes as mousex and mousey in there might be enough for vendetta to recognise the full range of motion again.
