Some of the machines I have running here are a little more stable with AFP, which is good since our RAID array is accessed via AFP...

If anyone here uses iridium could you please say if it works in 10.4.7?

I don't know if it does, but I know Uno works.

I run a studio full of macs, mostly graphics/design apps, upgraded and tested with 10.4.7, all is well for me.

Hot tip:
Also when upgrading, try always to download the COMBO update and run that one instead of using the software update panel. Running the combo makes sure no old bits are left between the teeth of your mac ;)

I chose not to run the combo because I would have to reinstall a variety of apps.

I didn't know that could happen.
I've never had to reinstal anything after updating with a combo, at work or at home :) guess I'm just lucky.
What apps are you referring to if I may ask?

Running 10.4.7, no problems.

I hate and despise it. It's caused a ton of problems for me. For instance, the finder quits and relaunches by itself...every...5.....minutes. I can barely get around my desktop anymore without fear of the desktop suddenly disappearing and stopping whatever I had going on in the Finder. I can't even play most games or start up most applications anymore, it just crashes them. I just hope the next update comes out soon, and fast, and that it will actually fix this.

No problems here

wrecked my machine. left it spinning the intro spinner for 12 hours, came back, still doing the same damn thing.

i guess thats 'rock solid unix stability'.

holy crap, i rebooted and now it works.

oh mac, how could i have ever said anything bad about you.

it is you i love, with your smooth fonts and nice looking web pages,

your OS that can do nice graphics tricks on 6 year old hardware.

please forgive me, cupertino and china.

Just your usual jumping to erroneous conclusions on the basis of limited factual evidence. I'm sure Steve Jobs will forgive you.

hi steve. my mafhine just crashed after i downloaded 'walk like an egyptian'. Why do you hate the Bangles steve? Why?

Okay, Ananzi. I'm sorry I was pushing your buttons. THAT was funny. Have you tried downloading some Vixen, Heart, or the Eurythmics? Try Warrant. If "Cherry Pie" doesn't lock up your system then nothing will.

Actually, I'm having similar problems with crashing on my TV software. (I use my computer as a Tivo.) I can't leave the software running to record programs on its own because after about three hours it seizes up. Dunno why, but it's annoying as piss.

ok, well, my mac has locked up 3 times since this 'update'. had to hard-reset. dont gimme this shit about the video driver blah blah blah. that shit may work on linux but on Mac they know damn well what vidcards they need to support, there are only a few of them because apple controls the hardware, and if they cant keep it from locking that up, then the company doesnt know how to test their own products, or is unwilling to put the time and effort into doing so. either way, its a joke.

this 'update' is bullshit. i mean, come on! i feel like im back in windows 98 land.
or linux 2.6 kernel before .12 or so.
