Mar 29, 2007 Xaander link
Sorry if this is posted before.
Is there a way to record game footage on mac, short of hitting "f12" every 1/3 of a second?
PLEASE say yes. I wagga make a movie in VO.

There's Snapz Pro, which costs money and takes a long time to encode once you're done recording (and you need to be in windowed mode).

The best option would be to have a card with video-out, and a capture card on another computer. Yeah, inelegant, I know.

I've used SnapzPro, it works OK except now I think my processor is too slow for it, I get a wierd intermittent sound bug when using it.

Used to work fine, though. Plus Ambrosia SW is an outstanding SW company. Buy from them.

Snapz pro is the best. Make sure to have a gig of ram at least and at least 2.0Ghz of processing power. Anything lower, it'll be poor quality or it might not record at all (Won't work on my 400mHz 512MB ram G4 for example).

I've used Snapz Pro for almost three years and it works very well on multi-core setups (I own a Core Duo 2 GHz iMac now and my previous Mac was a dual G5 tower). LeberMac is right, on single core CPUs the movie recording could be a resource hog ...

Luckily, VO's graphics engine is really efficient. I've started playing this game again three days ago once I've discovered the 1.7.22 update (I use to keep an eye to all the Mac's MMOs development news). With this patch the framerate is incredibly consistent so it should be possible using Snapz Pro to record the in-game action without loosing too much frames.

There's a 30 day trial that you can use it for.

Do you know iShowU? I've never tried it but it seems to work pretty well:

They say: "Requires OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and a reasonably fast (G4, 1.4Ghz minimum) machine"

I will give it a try one of these days ...

I'm trying out Copernicus- It's freeee.
Once I get to a machine with enough power, I'll take some video.

[edit - If anyone else wants to try this program, it can be found here:
