I am taking a survey to see if making the Updater incompatible with anything earlier than 10.2.8 would be problematic.

well, i guess it's a moot point now since we released the new updater.

oops

I am running 10.2.8 ... with no chance of upgrading in the near or distant future.

The updater should work on 10.2.7 and 10.2 with safari installed so you'll be fine.

I think we're saying our minimum specs for os is 10.2.8 anyways due to driver problems in earlier versions of the os.

Yes, I'm running 10.2.8. If what other players are saying is still true, there are
some "issues" with 10.3 and Vendetta. Also, friends and aquaintences are telling
me that 10.3 isn't as stable as 10.2.8. That and the expense of upgrading are
kinda holding me back....

10.3 and Vendetta are fine.

ha! I got 10.3.4 :P

why'd you stop at 10.3.4???
10.3.5 is available, though if you have a 1.8G5 single like me dont get it.

Why not, Black Omega?

I'll post here and cross my fingers that ray will still check it ;)

The updater is having a few problems telling me it loaded 8/3 kb and then it just froze, I quit and ran it again, and it worked fine.

I have 10.3.5

My Vendetta is busticated. Got all my updates done and now it won't launch the client. Viewing package contents and attempting to launch VendettaClient does nothing.

Trick:
Can you open the system Console app and see if there are any errors listed in there that could explain why the vendettaclient didn't run?
Aug 28, 2004 raybondo link
Cam: what time did the client not work? Was it the first file it tried to download?

Nothing in there at all.

Here's the log. I launched Vendetta immediately after a restart since it had been a while. I launched it so quickly that my Airport network connection hadn't been established yet which is what generated the error you see below.

Immediately after this (after the 802.11 connection was set) I launched it again. Got he same message about reiculating splines, notice of no updates but 6/6 KB transferred and then clicked play:

Mac OS X Version 10.3.5 (Build 7M34)
2004-08-29 01:41:49 -0400
2004-08-29 01:41:54.635 Vendetta[225] Connection failed! Error - can’t find host http://www.vendetta-online.com/update/update.lua

For what it's worth, I did attempt to download a fresh copy and the updater seemed pretty slow. Eventually it completed to only deliver the same result.

To make it official, I did submit a bug via the website as well earlier today.

I agree, the updater seems to freeze after d/l so much then you have to quit it and relaunch it.

The reason you dont want 10.3.5 with a G5 1.8 sp is because it screws the fans up, but only on this model. Go figure.

I agree with Blackomega , sometimes my G5 sp becomes a B52...

Ray: The first time it worked fine, it was the second time it went finicky.
Hmmm which file... I'm not sure, and I can't manage to duplicate the error.

I think it said reticulating splines when it was frozen.

The web server had gzip compression turned on again.
We turned it off.
See if the updater is working now.

I'm running 10.2.8, just signed up here, haven't started playing yett.
I didn't get bitTorrent to work, it's just bunching up and down, until it quits.

I guess I'll try with 10.3.5 or something...

I know I'm getting a little of-topic here, but does anyone know when it will be available for download from http or ftp?

I'm running 10.2.8. I don't plan to upgrade until 10.4 comes out.
