will a 12 inch ibook run vendetta?

Nov 22, 2004 ananzi link
the new 12 inch ibook is a 1.2Ghz G4 with a 32MB ATI Radeon 9200, 256MB ram, and sells for $999. ok with 512MB ram its $1099. i know the FAQ says you need like 300+MB ram.

does anyone know, for a fact, that this will run vendetta?
will i have to turn everything down to bare polygons so i think im playing xwing back in 1993, or will it look pretty decent?

thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes in my experience it will run it. You can expect framerates between 25 and 40 at medium high detail settings.

Am I right in recollecting the iBook has 256MB built in and only one memory expansion slot? Because of this I would recomend buying it with as much ram as you can afford. Otherwise when/if you upgrade later you'll have to remove your old ram to make room for the new.

I have the 12" iBook, at 1 Ghz with only 256 MB RAM and Vendetta plays acceptably fine. A little slowdown around heavy asteroid fields, but that is it, and I suspect that adding more RAM would cure that problem. The 32 MB video card is more than up to the task of serving video at 1024 x 768.

i used to play vendetta on a 500mhz iMac, granted everything was at medium settings, but it ran, and ran well enough for combat and everything else you would expect.

233MHz Celeron with 192MB of RAM and a GeForce 2 MX 32MB gets 196fps in space at high quality.
200MHz PPC750 with 48MB of RAM and a Rage 3D 2MB gets about 20 fps in space at lowish quality, and a 350MHz PPC750 with 256MB of RAM and a Rage II 8MB gets 35fps at medium quality.
1.2GHz PPC7450 with 256MB of VRAM and a Radeon 9200/32MB? I'd estimate about 50fps at highest quality. Pretty decent.
