random crashes

i am not sure what is happening that upsets vendetta, but i have had 4 crashes this week since update 1.8.5 i think.

it also started after apple's latest security update also applied last week.

basicly what has been happening is i'll be in space either fighting or trading and suddenly without warning vendetta will exit. i believe it is more related to my system because after vedetta crashes my finder starts having issues, though this is not consistant.

anyway i wanted to post here and see if anyone else is having this problem.

I saw your bug reports, but the last report (earlier tonight) didn't have any information. Can you check the Console app to see what OS X says about the crash?

Have you made any other changes to your computer? Maybe it's overheating or there's some new piece of software or hardware plugged in?

after christmas i installed the 1ghz processor and ram, and it ran fine till this week.

the last report was a manual one since when it crashed the bug reporter did not automaticlly come up. does it not send the info when opened by the player? also after the last crash, vendetta would not open until i unplugged my controller. after trashing the config file it started up fine. i also ran a hard drive check and updated video drivers tonight just incase those were problems. the hard drive came out ok, and i am sure i had the latest drivers but felt i should install anyway just incase.

do you think it would be a good idea to pull off the heatsink and reapply the thermal grease incase the processor is overheating?

did you see anything in the bug reports that looked weird ray? if not then i am inclined to think my keyboard may have something to do with it as it also has been acting up a little. my n key seems to stick sometimes and not work other times. i am not sure how this would effect the game since i use my controller, but i am not going to overlook it ya know. the only reason why i would think my keyboard may also be part of the issue is because the last crash looked more like a quit then a crash.

this is all i see in the console app.

anyway, thanks for the quick responses ray.

Try playing with your controller(s) unplugged. If it's plugged into the keyboard, maybe it's drawing power away from the keyboard.
I didn't check out your config.ini file, I'll do that.

i doubt the controller is pulling power from the keyboard as the keyboard is an old ADB port and the controller is attached to a usb pci card :) damn antiquated equipment. :D
