Ubuntu 10.10 64bit Immediate Crash

Mar 25, 2011 John Smith link
Sorry if this has been posted before, searching brought me up short.

Every time I try to start the game (whether by command line or with the icon), my resolution is changed to 800x600, what I assume is the game's first screen flashes, and I am dropped back at my desktop, no loading, no errors, no nothing. The game was installed from the Ubuntu Software Center, and none of the files have been modified in any way since (besides the updates, of course).

Ubuntu 10.10 64bit
Intel gen 2 Core i7 2820QM
Nvidia GTX 460M w/ Nvidia driver.

Read a page suggesting starting in windowed mode by modifying ~./vendetta/config.ini would love to try that, but no such file exists.

Thanks for any advice.

~/.vendetta, not ~./vendetta. It's a hidden folder.

Well that's embarrassing. Running windowed gives same results, minus the change in resolution to my desktop.

Also, I should add that I missed the error my terminal was throwing. The program exits with a Seg Fault.

Here's a copy of my error.log

Setting up signal handlers...done.

Thanks again for any help!

Sounds like you installed it as root vs your normal account.

"To install Vendetta, type "sh ./vendetta-linux-x-installer.sh". You do not need to be root; install it under your usual account."

Also, make sure you have the 64 bit client installed.
