A useful tool for determining if you are lagging

CoolTool

A while back, I was looking for something that would tell me my battery percentage without having to swipe my menu down. this tool provides that, and other displayed items, some of which i have lately been using to determine my network connection.

What you wanna do is set up a display of the following labels:
"Network traffic bitrate"
"Network traffic total"
"WiFi signal"

the Network traffic bitrate will tell you how much data you are receiving at the moment; VO typically requires around 5kb/s when you are in a busy sector (i dunno how much is required, but youtube tends to work best around 300kb/s, for reference).

Network traffic total isnt too much useful, i just sometimes use it to measure how much VO needs for a particular day sometimes.

WiFi signal is measured in Rssi; a higher number is better. if you have a -80 or lower, you likely arent playing VO very well. -70 is doable, -50 is a pretty good target.

Hope you all enjoy!

Beside that these information are mostly irrelevant.
What matters is graphing ping times AND packet loss.

Well, if you have something better, then please, do tell us about it, and where we can get such an app!

You can type /set nShowNetQualReport "1" to show packet loss and mean ping, it does get a bit spammy though, as it posts to the chat window. You can make an alias to turn it on/off easy enough though, and I'm sure a plugin could move this to the mission-text too. (not sure if this works on droid now ive posted it, heh)

Gives a better idea if you are lagging than just /ping and this tool though, as it does show if your ping is changing a lot, and also shows not just a % of dropped packets, but when one actually occurs.

No, it does not work on 'droid. Seems a shame really!
