PCVR on Quest 2... disable auto targetting?

Jul 25, 2023 Dalkorn link
Hi,

I'm trying to set VO up so I can play using my Quest 2, but still using my dual stick setup I use in other space sims.

The only problem I'm having, is as I'm flying I put the motion controllers on my desk.... but the beam from the right controller is auto targetting everything it passes over. If I have my finger on the controller trigger the beam turns off, but then I can't use my flight stick.

Is there any way I can disable that auto target beam? I would like to still be able to use the controllers with the UI if possible. I did uncheck the use head tracking option at the top which disables the motion controllers completely, but that makes navigating the UI difficult.

Has anyone else had this problem, is it something my end or just how things are at the moment?

Thanks in advance for any help.

For future readers, this ended up discussed on discord. The OP is using PCVR. When you "point" with your right hand, you can 'point to select' using a visible line. The Quest controllers are actually looking for your finger to NOT be resting on the controller. As such, when the OP sets his VR controllers down to use his twin stick game pad setup, the VR controllers continue to operate in this 'point to select' mode.

There is, at this time to our current knowledge, no way to disable this functionality. stay tuned.

I think part of this stems from VO on PC looking for the Oculus Touch controllers, and not being directly familiar with the Quest controllers (the way the native Quest version is). The PC version's VR implementation is (currently) a bit older than the Quest version.
