Poll: Another Capital Ship Battle???

There will be a Cap ship Battle every week on Saturday at 7pm GMT. Use Daylight Saving Time (where applicable) to translate the time.

Thats:
12pm PST (GMT-7) (San Francisco, USA)
3pm EDT (GMT -4) (New York, USA)
7PM GMT (GMT) (Casablanca, Morocco)
8pm IST (GMT +1 (Dublin, Ireland)
9pm CEST (GMT +2) (Paris, France)

Scenario 1 will be used for the following dates:
May 14, 28; June 11, 25; July 9, 23; August 6, 20; September 3, 17

Scenario 2 will be used for the following dates:
May 21; June 4, 18; July 2, 16, 30; August 13, 27; September 10, 24

Note: There will be no changes made to these rules unless the cap ships changes or there is a major change to the faction system.

General Rules:

1. All players should defend their own nation's capital ships. But, you are not required to do so. If you want to, you can help another nation. See teams below.
2. You should defend your ship and if necessary heal it on the journey. Watch out for pirates though. And remember the severe penalty for killing an admired player in nation space.
3. All players not in your nation team are KOS.
4. Any player attacking a cap ship OR its defenders before the battle will be KOS for all nations. And will be severely penalized.
5. NO WINGBUGGING
6. All weapons and ships may be used for the battle
7. No hailing or docking with any cap ship on it journey. Hailing will slow down the cap ship and docking with the cap ship while it’s moving might cause you to wingbug it and cause it to explode.
6. For each scenario there will be to sets of cap ships. The Itani ship from the 1st spawning and the Serco and UIT from the second spawning will be used. Feel free to destroy any cap ships not being used in the battle. If the first Serco and UIT cap ships are not destroyed before the beginning of the battle bots will be called to destroy them. Complete details below.

Nation teams:

1. Each nation should elect/appoint a leader before the start of the battle.
2. The leader should make contact with the event coordinator before the start of the battle.
3. All players must register with leader before the start of the battle.
4. Prizes will only be awarded to those players that registered with their leader.
5. The nation leader will pick 1 escort to be sent to monitor another nation’s cap ship. See below for detailed information about escorts.

Escorts:
1. The nation leader will pick 1 escort to be sent to monitor another nation’s cap ship.
2. Once picked the escort will escort the following cap ship:
Serco player --> Itani capship, Itani player --> UIT capship and UIT player --> Serco capship
3. The job of the escort player is to :
a. Escort the cap from the capital system to the starting location of the battle
b. Report when the cap ship explodes to all players
c. Report on chan 205:
i. when the cap ship starts moving from the nation capitol sector
ii. when the cap ship enters gray space
iii.when the cap ship enters B8
iv. answer any queries on chan 205 about the current location of the cap ship you are escorting.

Scenario 1

1. Combat starts when all the cap ships reach Sedina B8.
2. In order to make sure all the Cap ships should arrive at the same time, The cap ships should be stoped (by hailing) at the following location:
a: Itani -- Sedina X-XX, Serco -- Latos X-XX and UIT -- Sedina B-8
3. When all the cap ships get into position the event coordinator will ask all nations to realase there cap ships. The event coordinator will announce the start of the battle when all 3 ships get into position.
4. The winner will be the nation team that keeps their cap ship alive the longest.

Estimated Time Line (Scenario 1)

6:00pm First set of cap ships spawned
ONLY THE ITANI SHIP WILL BE USED FOR THE BATTLE

7:00pm 2nd set of cap ships spawned
ONLY THE ONLY THE UIT AND SERCO SHIPS WILL BE USED
FOR THE BATTLE

7:20pm The cap ships will wait at the following locations until all the cap ships get in postiton:
Itani -- Sedina X-XX, Serco -- Latos X-XX and UIT -- Sedina B-8

7:40pm All ships will jump into Sedina B8 and the battle will start.

Scenario 2

1. Combat will start in grey space when all ships reach the following locations:
UIT = Latos H-2, Serco = Ukari A-10 and Itani = Pelatus K-15
2. The cap ships will wait at the following locations until all the ships get in position:
UIT -- Azek I-16, Serco -- Initros O-12 and Itani -- Edras H-15
3. When all the cap ships get into position the event coordinator will ask all nations to realase there cap ships. The event coordinator will announce the start of the battle when all 3 ships get into position.
4. The winner will be the nation team that keeps their cap ship alive the longest.

Prizes:

1. Monetary prizes will be awarded to all players who have registered with their nation leader in the following increments. The prize will be given to the nation leader. He/She will distribute the prize money.
a. 1st place =100k
b. 2nd place = 50k
c. 3rd place = 25k

2. Prizes will NOT be awarded to any player who doesn’t register with their nation leader.

3. All players will receive combat XP. The exact amount will be determined soon.

Read the above post carefully before making suggestions. I know it’s extremely long, but I wanted to make it as detailed as possible to avoid and loop holes or exploits.

Remember these rules will be final. There won’t be any more week to week changes. The rules will only change when the functionality of the cap ship changes or a major change takes place to the faction system. I’ll post the final rules to the role playing forums in 48 hours.

Only make suggestions that can be implemented now, with no changes to the game play.

Makes sense. One thing I would suggest is to make it a requirement to read the rules in order to participate in the battle and win the prize money (and xp). We can't stop players who haven't read the rules from participating, but we can stop them from getting any prize money or xp.

Nice job Jestatis, I know a lot of thought went into this, and I appreciate that you have been proactive in bringing a new dimention to this game.

If they move the friggys destination, im game, whats wrong with trying to populate a sector that isnt on the Serco CtC route?

Loophole: nowhere do you mention that players must refrain from attacking the capship escorts. I can easily see someone blowing him up and thus "hiding" their capship's whereabouts, and then claiming it "wasn't against the rules". From this it is also obvious that the names of said escorts should be broadcast wide and clear throughout the Territories, before they take off for their appointed positions, so everyone know who they are. Also, it bears mentioning the escort should be neither KOS nor respected by the nation he's watching over. If he's KOS it's unlikely he'll have the time to oversee the capship; if he's Respected he can hail and stop it, for whatever purpose his team may find convenient. In other words, the Escort must be nothing but an impartial observer.

Also, you don't say what becomes of them once the capship reaches greyspace in Scenario 2. After all, he's now a lone pilot surrounded by hostile enemies. I'd suggest that escorts are given a time window to leave the capship's sector immediately before the battle is announced, so he can rejoin his lines or such; give it like 45 seconds to a minute; if he hasn't left the sector by that time, he's a valid target.

You know I was thinking it would just be easier if jes was a guide for him to run these things.

Heh, me and my random thoughts. *shrugs* You know for that matter I should be made a guide so I can um... Help run things... Like um, B 8. Yeah I could be the master of B 8. :D

they at least need a one guide that wont run away after being attacked (ie, they shoot at you cos your attacking someone else, you shoot them to 5% they dont run away, but stay to die)

I I was able to get authorization from Ray for combat XP but the money has to be created in players in-game.
Maybe a guild could help with the payouts by sponsoring the event once in awhile?

I have enough money for this week. I will make some changes in the rules later today. I'm also not going to make the rules final today. We'll try them out and see how they work on Saturday. Then make them final after that.

I would like it if the Planned Cap Ship Battle become a permanent feature of this game. I know I’m not a developer or guide, but its content that can be used now. No extra work will be required from the developers. Please consider it Developers.

(And when you look in to making new guides, please consider me for the position :)

I didn’t have a chance to update the rules but here are some more:

1. You must read the rules before the battle.
2. Don’t shoot an escort. He’s there to keep you honest.
3. Escorts are free to join their nation and fight after the cap ship they are escorting reaches the holding position:
Itani -- Sedina O-6, Serco -- Latos O-12 and UIT -- Sedina B-8

And remember you must read the rules and register with your nation leader to win the prize.

The UIT won the battle again. The Itani ship died twice in unforeseen circumstances. (Both times while warping I think)

Only about 30 people participated in this battle :(

I’ll post exact times latter. Post your comments below :)

A better way of giving out the prizes is needed. Some people were killed while waiting for theirs, and got nothing as a result. A cease-fire was supposed to be in effect, but some, most notably unknown player node ignored it and kept shooting at people.

and it would be nice if the Cease Fire announcement was put on 100. Or if it was, I didn't see it, cuz I went into B8 after the battle had pretty much ended, and was sitting way at the periphery of the sector to watch. Not moving at all. And still someone came up and killed me for no reason. I wasn't happy that they did that, so I returned to B8, and killed them while they were sitting motionless in space. And they got upset that I'd killed them when the cease fire was in effect.

First off, I lost my error.log files so I don’t have exact times for the last battle sorry.

No offence to anyone but, guys you didn’t have to stay together in B8. An actually a cease-fire wasn’t planned. You only had to be in the sector. You should have done what some people did and turboed away from the worm hole

By the way, unless I get some support from other players I’m canceling the money prize. XP will still be given out though. I don’t have time this week to earn another 3 mil credits.

CrippledPidgeon is rigt; the cease-fire, that was an spontaneous thing (as in, not planned by Jestatis Bess or anyone befprehand), was only announced in the sector chat. Then again, CrippledPidgeon was killed by Joyce Sanders before the serco capship was dead, so the cease-fire hadn't been called yet. Still, I think karma was in effect: Joyce's death at the hands of CrippledPidgeon prevented her from collecting her share of the prize money, and then her second death at the hands of unknown player node made her miss the XP award. Still, she came back and gave us UIT an extra 100k, at least to those of us still in the sector.

Thank you again for your comments and suggestions. Hopefully the Itani ship can last long enough to take part in the battle.

I didn't add this to the rules but if a cap ship dies and the nation is not responsible I will ask that the cap ship be respawned if there is time. During the last battle the itani ship exploded for no apparent reason. I asked that the cap ship be respawned and the 2nd Itani ship died too. By that time there wasn't enough time to spawn another one and get it into position in time. The itani did still participate in the battle and helped kill both the UIT and Serco cap ships.

Also remember the times in the rules are estamates. If we can get all the ships ready earlier the battle will start earlier. It will never start before 7PM GMT though.

I'm still looking for donations for the prize money. I doubt i'll have time to raise at least 3mil credits this week. I'll give out what i can though and XP will still be awarded.
