Remove /explode (we really dont get stuck in weird places unless we try)

I think combining /explode with a timer and using it as a self-destruct is kind of interesting.

If /explode'ing while in a duel doesn't already forfeit, we'll have to change that.

it does cause a forfit in a duel inc. but it DOESNT count as a kill in a PvP mission such as border patrol, or in a 'pick up battle' without using the duel command.

Oh, and johnhawl, please remove the profanity from your posts, theres no reason for it on the message board where there is no chat filter.

Like i said i like explode i do you it sometimes. But never to deny a pk. death doesn't matter i'll fight and die in most circumstances.

There is only one problem i have with the 10 sec timer. If its going to work out like the timer in log out i have a problem with it. The log out timer won't work for me it says count down aborted, as soon as i press logout. I wasn't moving at all or pressing any buttons. But the timer won't even get to 9 when its aborted. I went to the nearest station to log off. I'm sure some or all of you have expirenced that before.

I seems that most of the reasons that you don't want explode or want to limit it is because of honor. Since I might not share your honor system let me do what i want when I want. If i explode before letting you get the kill move on and kill somone else.

The real problem i think here is that we (20 to 30 players) are making a major suggestion that will effect players in the future. When we have more players online we might find a better use for explode. Leaving that feture in now the way it is will be easier then adding it again in the future.

I don't support making any changes to the explode command. It works the way it is supposed to. Leave it alone and let the developers fix and add stuff that matters.

It would be the height of simplicity to just "comment" it out in the next update. If enough people complain, then "uncomment" it in the update after that. Devs, is it that easy? Or am I oversimplyfing your jobs again?

But I bet only yoda will complain, since he's a known runner, spammer and even dies at the hands of cute 'lil kitties. He's even got special keys for it on his keyboard. Look!

We are also speaking for people who never read the suggestions forums. Just because a small group might agree doesn't mean everyone does. The developers and guides have tried but people still read the general forums mostly.

Maybe there should be some thing like a /vote suggestion command in game. So a bigger population of the players can make thier thoughts know.

all self-destruct mechanisms should have a ten-second countdown and flashing lights anyway =P

I am against /vote mechanisms, or make them just 'suggestions' to the developers.
Democratic mechanisms are too easily abused in such environments, in my opinion.

I'll throw my vote in for a 10 second timer. I would hate to see it removed completely, but have no problem with it being harder to use. The only times I remember /exploding was when a bug made it impossible (or at least impractical) to get out of a situation. Without /explode, I would have bugged a guide or dev to "rescue" me before I could play again.

JestatisBess, if you have a turbo lock bind, try disabling it before /logoff (I had the same problem):

heh i just had an EVIL thought...

add a 10 second timer to explode.. included with the command the entire hud flashes orange with a loud warning alarm as a bright red message fills the center of the hud..

"SELF DESTRUCT ACTIVATED"

and a countdown timer from 10 to 1 underneath it..

then when people tell the new players to /explode they can freak out. :)
