Big thumbs up. Should be the same for the other special nation variants too, IBG and SVG.

go all the way: Serco, Itan, and UIT only sell special ships to players hated by the other two nations. A valk, prom, or TD see one of the others anywhere in the galaxy, and it's an instant fight.

I see the need for Serco and Itani only selling you a ship if your hated by the foe, but I don't see the need for UIT to only sell you a ship if you are hated by both Serco and Itani. Whats the point, they sell a traiding vessel.

They sell to whoever pays top dollah!

UIT ships suck anyway, the tunguska Maud is way better :P

The hog ain't too bad I guess...

I dare say we extend this...

Solid Backstory er... backing

Tunguska Suggested = Tunguska Admire and Orion Dislike (or Neutral)

Orion Suggested = Orion Admire and Tunguska Dislike (or Neutral)

================================================================

BioCom Suggested = BioCom Admire and Itani Dislike (Or Neutral)

================================================================

Valent Suggested = Valent Admire and Axia Dislike (Or Neutral)

Axia Suggested = Axia Admire and Valent Dislike (Or Neutral)

================================================================

My own meandering thoughts...

TPG/Orion/Tunguska/Ineubis Suggested =
TPG/Orion/Tunguska/Ineubis Admire and Corvus Dislike (or Neutral)
{Basically, all the corps besides Xang Xi who have convoys boomed by Corvus}

================================================================

Xang Xi Suggested = Xang Xi Admire and Ineubis Dislike (Or Neutral)

Ineubis Suggested = Ineubis Admire and Xang Xi Dislike (Or Neutral)

This is just an attachment of thoughts. I still definitely want to see my original suggestion implemented in some form or another.

I think some form of this will be coming with the new faction system, but probably not until then. Definitely a good idea, though.

Me like.

I don't exactly agree. While Tunguska and Orion may be competing corporations it doesn't make sense that they demand that you be hated by their counterpart (or disliked or w/e).

Now Corvus I agree, but not other corporations. I can see the UIT passing laws making that sort of deals illegal :)

Nationwise I think the restriction should be in place, except for UIT. They are neutral, and should be treated as such. It's about time the UIT got some kind of benifit of being UIT. Being able to be liked by both nations would be a great benifit, and would make up ofr some of the limitiations. It would also follow storywise.

As far as other factions, I don't think it's a good idea. They're all basically UIT factions.

So where's the downside of being UIT? Everyone should be UIT then.

As far as the individual factions, Reference:

The UIT
Corporations

The UIT is formed of a loose conglomeration of corporations, civilians and other subfactions, most of whom owe allegiance (at least in name) to the UIT Senate. In reality, the UIT is nearly a constant power struggle between various corporations, who vie for technology, resources and Serco/Itani contracts. During the early advent of the interstellar Serco/Itani conflict, most of the corporations began their own weapons and ship development programs, hoping to capitalize on the war by selling their products to the embattled major nations. However, a second purpose became apparent when a "rogue pirate clan", who may have actually been mercenaries or employees of Axia Technology Corp, assaulted a Valent Robotics station, devestating the development site for a new product that competed with a similar Axia creation. Both were competing for the same Serco contract, but this was the first time competition had been raised to such levels. Valent responded in kind, launching a full assault on Axia and sparking the first of the corporate wars. These conflicts were finally brought to an end when TPG, the five hundred pound gorilla of UIT military research, forcibly engaged all the other corporations simultaneously with a massive armada and dictated a cease-fire. Since then there has been a wary and untrusting "peace" among the UIT corporations, where they all play nicely in view of the Senate or TPG, but are known to continue their in-corporate conflicts in secret.

the only suggestion i have is that it is "maintain" is required to fly these ships.

stockpiling is possible with either love/hate relationship with the nations.

build one, buy a whole fleet.. then the other.

with maintaining the faction standing to fly said nation-ship this eliminates the mass purchasing/stockpiling of ships.

The downside of being UIT would be not having access to N3s, not beign able to start BP or BS missions. Right now, there is NO benifit to being UIT, only things you can't have.
Nov 27, 2006 toshiro link
Yes, but you start out with good or neutral standing with every other faction in the game, saving you lots of time. Furthermore, the N3 can be acquired from someone you know on the other team, and for BP and BS, it makes sense that neutral people don't start the enmities.

This is not the topic of this thread, however.

I am for restricting the special ships of the major factions. It doesn't make a lot of sense that a Serco can gain the trust of two opposing sides.
Nov 27, 2006 bojansplash link
Im all for it. Make that stupid faction system right finally.
And no serco/itani nation specific ships for UITs.
Nation specific ships are military pride of respective nations, why would greedy UIT corporations and traders have access to serco/itani top military hardware?
Thats preposterous.
Nov 27, 2006 Lexicon link
This ties into the faction system in so many ways. Yes.
Fix (well, upgrade/rebuild from scratch) the faction standing system first. Then make common-sense limits on ship restrictions.

As far as UIT ships, they can just cost LOTS more, instead of being restricted. (Cost more to repair, too...)
