Ideas that would improve "manufacturing driven gameplay"

Aug 29, 2010 PaladinOfLancelot link
Hello VO, long time no see.

I heard that Vendetta devs are pushing towards something called "manufacturing driven gameplay". So here i am, to remind You of some of my ideas posted earlier, which could greatly constribute to something of that sort.

This are whole concepts ready to be implemented.

1. New occupation - engineer (next to trader/miner/combat/lightWep/heavyWep)

2. Tractor beam conception + ship trading/unmanned ship hauling:

You know what was awesome? How you united the entire community (except Alloh) in how horrible your ideas were.

I always enjoy uniting. Uniting is good.

And for the record, You are completely, absolutely wrong. Because my ideas are completely, totally awesome.

And You Sir, are a completely self-oriented concrete hardcore player. You wouldn't see a good idea to improve the game even if it standed behind You and kicked You in the ass.

That is your problem. You play this game for too long and You just can't stand any changes. If you don't introduce a "fresh blood" into a closed hardcore-player-run system such as Vendetta, the patient is going to DIE.

And this is exactly what has been happening for the last few years. Vendetta is DYING, and it's because of YOU (and several very-noob-unfriendly trolls). So, move along and let me do my job, or die with the game right there.

Actually I love change. Not only that, other players love the changes I love and I love the changes they love, there really is a lot of love. We all love change but, when you first put these ideas forth they were shot down again and again.

That's because You only love changes which are cosmetic or evolutionary. I have reviewed all the changes Vendetta had through the last 3 years, and guess what - they were ALL evolutionary or cosmetic.

You (hardcore players) simply want Vendetta to be space Quake like it is now forever. I see Vendetta for its potential, because it could be much more.

The EVOLUTION is not enough. The world is moving forward, things that don't move are relatively moving backwards. What Vendetta needs is a small REVOLUTION.

You realize that you're talking to the guy who runs the ONLY two RP guilds in the whole game, right?

"You (hardcore players) simply want Vendetta to be space Quake like it is now forever."

Kinda kills that argument when you think about it. In the future think, then type.

I'm sure this will end well

[[[You realize that you're talking to the guy who runs the ONLY two RP guilds in the whole game, right?]]]

I am sorry Sir, i have accidentally mistaken You with some hardcore i-do-not-want-to-change-type Vendetta troll.
Now, as we have been properly introduced already, let's talk seriously and make this discussion CONSTRUCTIVE, shall we ?

So, please name two _MAJOR_ disadvantages of this two ideas of mine:

1. New occupation - engineer (next to trader/miner/combat/lightWep/heavyWep)
2. Tractor beam conception + ship trading/unmanned ship hauling:

Talking constructively, i can easily find lots of MAJOR advantages of my propositions, including:

1. Another two occupations in the game (ship trader & engineer - constructor).
1a. New minor occupation: constructing ships from scrap metal & parts of destroyed bots (cheap)
2. Increase cooperation between players (trading ships between people)
3. Some more things to do for pirates (stealing towed/hauled ships)
4. Decrease the boredom. Creates new possiblities. When You get bored with trading/mining/combat, You can do something else.
5. New combat possibilities (catching enemy with a tractor beam, so he can't move)
5a. New botting possibilities (catching a bot with tractor beam)
6. Improvements to game economy system - selling ships & trading ship parts creates new profit making possibilities for players (for example: a ship trader can wait in Sedina with several ships on tractor beam for sale in case of people duelling/furball in B8).
(n+1). Possibilities are endless. I only posted a small part of them.

Ok, I respect Your opinion, but some arguments are always welcome.
Anything ?

1. New occupation - engineer (next to trader/miner/combat/lightWep/heavyWep)

Against, the reason being that having classes/occupations could be limiting. As it stands now, we can all do basically what ever we want. If I want to fight, mine, make things or trade I can. A strict occupational system would limit that as it would logically speaking have to place limitations on what who could buy or do, and if it didn't then there is no reason to have the system because there would be no discernible differences in the classes. Better to keep occupations RP based.

2. Tractor beam conception + ship trading/unmanned ship hauling:

This one I'm not actually for or against, but there are more important issues that should be addressed first. Believe me, I'd love to take out a moths rear turret, lock my tractor beam onto it, kill my engines and blast away but, faction and economy come first.

Also, I'm still not convinced that you are not Alloh but thats neither here nor there.

[[[Against, the reason being that having classes/occupations could be limiting. As it stands now, we can all do basically what ever we want]]]

Well, this is a misunderstanding.
Engineering would be a skill like any of the other 5 (l.wep, h.wep, mining, trading, combat). So you would _NOT_ be limited to anything.

Again: i never said anything about _STRICT_ occupation system (well - even if i did, id did not mean it actually). Engineer would be a skill which anybody can improve by getting XP just like anything else (trading/mining/weapons/combat).

[[[This one I'm not actually for or against, but there are more important issues that should be addressed first. Believe me, I'd love to take out a moths rear turret, lock my tractor beam onto it, kill my engines and blast away but, faction and economy come first.]]]

So essentially You are not against any of these 2 ideas !
That's G.R.E.A.T.

Ah, almost forgot:

For the record, I'm _NOT_ Alloh. Not in this universe, not in this timeline.

Even if i had 2 accounts, i would not lower myself to such a deception. I don't do deceptions, i play fair & honourably. Klingon honor above everything ! ;)

As for me, I don't exclude Ideas just because of a person's name. I recommend some other VO players do the same.

Both your ideas sound great to me Paladin. Its way to easy for me to run away in a moth/taur then it should be around grey space.
