More and more? I just keep seeing the same set of players asking over and over.

-1 I like how trading involves personal in-game interaction.

Interaction with whom????

U kidding me .....ask on global and only rats /pirates and nationalists answer .....who others u have see????

I never see ch. 444 to be flooded with trade requests. I think at the moment only newbies seeking guild, guild members and pierats write to this channel. TGFT forum was extended with a public trade hub option couple of months ago. No one except 1-2 people posted 1-2 items.

Make a request and if TGFT members are on-line, and not occupied in other business, I'm damned sure that they will answer.

Faceof tells ARF to play the game, this is like the best thread ever.

There's nothing to trade. That's the reason there isn't player trade. We have an infinite supply of trade goods, and you people wonder why there's no demand?

What we need is to create demand, not extra transfer infrastructure, and then the trading will occur. We need supply side variability and scarcity. Then you will see player trading.

Why u dont understand how many players dont want to have any interaction with others and only collect money and stop playing why cant buy anything ???

U know how many ppls came online and play 2hours for example and do only trade missions or kill bots and make money but dont have time to find and negotiate ??????????

What from ALL this u dont understand???

U know how many quit the game when understand VO dont have Market/Auction and the simply one , worried on chat why that happens or hows can trade and when get the answer need to interaction in space with other players the only say is bye????????

What u dont understand from this Devs???

I can play for only 2 hours (example) and can make money to buy all things i need to manufacture items /equipments and dont have market to buy rare ores or an Auction to buy manufactured weapons /addons or anything?

I play for atleast 13 hours EVERYDAY and most hours im online is dead timezone for VO and i have talk with many players ....something who many dont do it this ...im stay to channel 1 why most of the players or have close the channel 1 or never answer /helping newcomers ....

What u dont understand from all this ppls of VO and Devs????

U know how many ppls sure continued to play this game if excist an Auction station where TGFT can place there ready parts of Trident or even me when i want some money to CAN sell some FFSA ????

Why is so hard to understand this Devs???

I want only to make trade mission ....i like only to fly in 3D space and have alot of money but i dont want to speak to any or my playing time is few OR EVEN AFRAID TO interactive with ppls in space (why not?) the most easy thing in VO to be killed from rats/pirates ....WHAT IN HEKL CONTINUE TO PAY AND PLAY if i cant buy/sell something in a Market/Auction???

U know how many times i have advertise for SSS and i speak many whos afraid to sell me why this time online is atleast 1 pirates or he believes im pirate and im steal his cargo or dont give his money, something very easy to can happen or happen in VO???

Whats is the purpose to make money ....i dont want to do pvp ...and from bots i lost very few ships ...and collects many good loots and i dont know where i can sell them......whats my game target then ????

Sorry for all this but just try to give some food for thinking .....i love this game and i cant play other game now, but many things need to proved and make this game more ....unique???

Cheers:)

Says the guy who doesn't play and hasn't been subscribed for the last 3 months or he wouldn't have been on during the free-play week.

U kidding me .....ask on global and only rats /pirates and nationalists answer .....who others u have see????

So manufacture and sell weapons!

I'll buy Corvus Widowmakers, NeutIII turrets, Firecracker Turrets, Avalon Torpedos, and Teller-Ulam mines. Prices negotiable.

There are plenty of things to trade:

Law Enforcement Neutron Blaster
Corvus Widowmaker
Synthetic Silksteel
Avalon Torpedo Launcher
Concussion Railgun
Samoflange
Hive Data Aggregator
Hive Processor Cores (Guardian, Collector, Queen)
Fused Composite Plating
Fluid Formable Silksteel Alloy
Any rare ore (e.g. Heliocene)
Any Premium quality ore (e.g. Premium Xithricite Ore)

These are just a few examples of items that exhibit aspects of economic scarcity in Vendetta Online, and can be traded player-to-player.

"Why u dont understand how many players dont want to have any interaction with others"

VO is a multiplayer game, Faceof. People who don't want to interact with other people should go find a singleplayer game to play. Personally, I recommend Vega Strike. It's free, cross platform, and pretty fun. Less polished than VO though. It has a number of things that people have asked for here as well, including longer radar range, newtonian motion, ability to look directions other than forward, a more complex faction system, ship upgrades, and tractor beams. In-system travel is also seamless as you fly between planets (there's an FTL drive to multiply your speed so trips don't take ages). System-to-system travel uses wormholes in a manner similar to VO's. You can land on planets, but that isn't seamless and there is no planetary exploration (you just fly really close to the planet and press "dock", then you appear in a city where you can trade, take on missions, etc.)

Faceof addresses a longstanding problem within VO that has no simple solution.

There have been countless threads over the years, and even minor (from our point of view at least, major from theirs, i'm sure) attempts by the devs to address the economy.

That said, some sort of market interface BUILT IN to the PDA in stations for players would be a fabulous addition given the desolate human population of the universe. Various attempts have been made in guild forums to this end, but have been futile ultimately.

The bigger question is, however, is this the best use of the devs limited resources? I would argue not at this time.

For the record, I do agree with the OP. I agree with TRS as well. What I'd like to see is all items sold by stations (except for the free gear) being manufactured from raw materials instead of magically created. Not necessarily only by players; I think NPCs should also attempt to compete, but they should be pretty inefficient at it. That way things still get done even if no players participate, but players will stand to profit heavily by filling neglected roles.

I do worry that doing things that way could spell the end of the kind of furballs where people burn 30-60 ships each, though, so maybe it would be better to take the "Feed the station raw materials and component parts or prices go up" approach, where things are still magically infinite, but scarcity is at least faked.

I'm working on a solution now. I've had set backs due to all the projects I'm working on, plus originally work and now unemployment. I do have a design and most of the support scripts for the external host done. I have designed a suite of plugins which are intended to add ambiance to VO.

With luck, once I get the Casino to a testable state, I'll be returning to the Bazaar plugin. Currently done are:

* The sales tab GUI
* The data model for the host
* The interface for the host and login/logout and security components
* The design for the overall plugin and the interface data structure
* The design for money wiring to allow for indirect payments for salable contracts and items

I could use some testers soon.

"Says the guy who doesn't play and hasn't been subscribed for the last 3 months or he wouldn't have been on during the free-play week."

Yes, says that guy...

You really need to work on your rhetoric there buddy, its not very er, poignant, to say the least. I have played VO long enough to establish why there isn't player trade.

The problem is infinite supply of every single good that is in high demand and low demand for every single good that doesn't have infinite supply. The exceptions are things like SSS, Avalons or LENBs which are the only things players regularly do trade.

Adding more infrastructure will not change the supply/demand dynamics. They wont help people who want to sell things to make credits, they will just make it plainly apparent to all how pathetic the player-driven economy actually is.

On the flipside, if we remove infinite supply, it suddenly becomes relevant not only what items you can stockpile or obtain for trade, but it becomes relevant where they are, where they are manufactured etc.. etc.. Items that people have high demand for like AAP's, power cells and others will be regular trades where at the moment they are not traded at all.
Dec 31, 2013 Keller link
It's been said multiple times in the past that we really need a consumer economy. In my preferred world (which will likely not see the light of day in VO), all things are manufactured and items need to be consumed to be manufactured. Some items can have effectively automatic assembly lines; keep enough of the raw materials in those stations, and the items will continue to be manufactured. Other items should require player input for assembly.

This would give a real reason for having NPC convoys; they would actually be carrying stuff the station needed to maintain its auto-factory lines. It would give a real reason for blockades. It would effectively replace the CtC, as Neut3s could be produced at all times, but would require the raw materials be shipped to the factory stations.

It would even allow an increase in the number of stations, as some might be designated factory stations. (Complete with green fog or some other type of environmental hazard)
Dec 31, 2013 Pizzasgood link
Yes, exactly. Meaningful NPC convoys. That is something I particularly want. It would make piracy a lot more interesting, and it would give it economic consequences. People would finally have incentive to fight pirates beyond simple safety.

I support the intent of the OP. I would love to see an official in game auction/market house.
The economic system would need a rewrite but that's been needed done now for ages.
