Make the Hound full compromise

50m/s max cruise speed.
190N Thrust
7000 Armor.
The Turbo thrust can remain the same at 450N.

Reason: This ship should not be able to dodge like it does right now, nor should it be able to be better than the other Warthogs in every respect. It got one hell of a buff for the job of being a purpose-built interceptor, but right now it's a widely overused ship for every purpose. It's far too good at the intercepting job to be so close, let alone exceeding the job of the other Warthogs (face-to-face combat).

You pay fer what ye get. You're tellin me a loadin down XC should have a faster cruise speed than a hound. Hah gtfo of town.
Oct 09, 2014 Kierky link
That's not a good enough excuse for total imbalance. You don't launch yourself at an XC using nominal speed, you moron. That's the idea of Turbo.

+1 It should be a sprinter but not a dancer.

I fly this ship all the time and I wholeheartedly agree with the proposed changes.

The Greyhound is billed as a ship that sacrifices everything for raw chasing capability. Where's the sacrifice?

There's also this little detail.

I second the notion of this suggestion, but not necessarily the severity of the suggested nerf.

yeh bring out all yer alt accounts and second the notion

You think that if you try to denounce who we are then people will just ignore the merits of this suggestion? Continue talking shit then Boda, it's what you do best.

Er that was me, sorry.
Anyway I'm not sure about the suggested 45m/s cruise speed. Might be enough to drop it to 50m/s.

+1 to OP

All I see now is people running around in swarm hounds that can't be caught, and can still fight you with so much ease when they aren't turboing.
Since the SVG got a buff, there's been no shortage of ships that can intercept AND fight, however the Hound is considerably better at intercepting than the SVG, including the Thrust and regenerative turbo, so there's no reason why it should be able to do both jobs so well.

Changed it to 50m/s. Agreed on that.

-1. 190N Thrust is dumb. Even a Mk I Hog has 220N, the TD is at 275N + it has 11000 armor.

Bunch of nerf ninnys.
Oct 09, 2014 Kierky link
Why? It's not supposed to be a face-to-face ship. It's supposed to be an interceptor. If you want a semi-interceptor which can strafe, choose the Mk2 Warthog, don't try and make this your one-ship-fits-all solution.
Oct 09, 2014 Savet link
The solution here is simpler:

Make a grey faction, and only let them buy it. Then smack Seiger when he requests the next 14 race changes.
Oct 09, 2014 Kierky link
Savet: it doesn't address the inherent problem with the greyhound, which is: it's too good at a specialised job (intercepting) to have such good versatility for other jobs (face-to-face combat).

Make a grey faction, and only let them buy it.
This won't do anything about it being an overpowered nuisance. Availability isn't the problem.
Oct 09, 2014 Inevitable link
Then the Valk needs a nerf cause its great at intercepting and great at face to face combat. But I guess that deserves another topic.
Oct 09, 2014 Darth Nihilus link
I've got an alternative solution to making a little less "stay and fight" friendly. How about dropping its armor to somewhere in between 6000 and 7000?
Oct 09, 2014 Kierky link
The Valk has been through several nerfs. Try to stay on topic. The Greyhound does a *better* job of intercepting, can even catch fast ships like the SVG and Valk itself!

Darth: it's suggested at 7000 armor right now. It will help, but this is only a single element. The top cruise speed and the thrust are things that are directly related to non-turbo maneuverability.
