I understand that this is a PvP game... but there are high level players that would sit and kill noobs for fun... for a noob it's not fun. i just spent the last hour warping trough lots of ions storms and lots of wormholes to get back to my home sector after i went somewhere far to buy myself a better ship and weapons... at a certain point i cam out of a wormhole and some a-hole player thought it was fun to kill me. he managed to kill me before i even had a chance to start turboing. this causes grief, and this game was meant to have fun... why not implement a trigger option for pvp ? if i want to pvp someone, have the other party accept or decline the pvp, if accepted, pvp begins, if not have it like trying to fire on your own nation;s ships. no damage. there are lots of noobs, trying to learn the game, trying to advance in levels. and having some a-hole kill them noobs is not a nice gaming experience.

just my 2 cents... (yanshi)

This was probably me. He was in a centaur, coming out of the Sedina -> Latos wormhole. As anyone who has tried to pirate knows by now, the only way to catch someone is to get right on their tail at a choke point and hope you can close enough to fire. He happened to come out right under me, literally. I saw Centaur, and I opened fire.

He turned, tried to turbo, but once you start getting hit by jacks in one of those big ships its over unless you can get the pirate to stop shooting somehow. He went in a nice straight line for about two seconds before my second salvo of tachs and jacks went out.

No cargo either. Waste of rockets.

Please people - if you don't want to be in danger from pirates, don't leave your nation. The gray areas are DANGEROUS. You have to be careful - hire an escort. Put seekers on your transports and spam them so you can get away. Don't just curl up in a ball and cry.

For an example of exemplary trader behaviour, look to Pen of the UIT. He escaped and was rational and logical about the whole experience. GG to Pen.

why get killed? cargo? wanna kill ? go kill ur own bots and collect the cargos urself. don;t start attacking noobs. u saw me in a centaur? yeah. i went to odina to buy it. same with my pulse devastators. yes. i have to buy those there because my home nation doesn;t sell them yet because i don;t have the neccessary levels to use them.

i need those to level. u killed me. i lost another half an hour. time is important. ketting killed causes grief. DEVS PLEASE ADD OPTION TO ACCEPT / DECLINE PvP attacking.

why would i accept??? i got nothing better to do. sure. i would accept... why decline? i am in a hurry to get to a timed mission destination, i am on my way home, i am a noob, i can;t fight yet... lots of reasons to either accept or decline... getting hit by salvos of crap was not fun as i had no idea what was attacking me and where from (just came out of wormhole). tried to turbo, coulnt; because u come out with no energy out of warp. tried to slide and died. what a fun experience... NOT.... i died many times killed by bots. but due to my own mistake for flying there and trying to see how long i can survive.

If you don't want to risk PvP, stay in your nation areas and level. The gray sectors ARE DANGEROUS. I can't stress that enough.

In response to your edit: Think of the gray sectors as one big bot area with a few really deadly bots called "pirates." That'll give you an idea of their intent. Enter at your own risk.

like i said i had to go in gray areas to buy myself some equipment that will help me level faster. that is not a crime. stop picking on innocent players. if it's a pvp game that doesn;t mean u should start killing players left and right cuz it may be fun for u. it's nt fun for us. thank you.

I don't kill players left and right. I only kill those in tradeships, and I only kill those that CHOSE to leave their nation and enter the danger area. I do it strictly for profit and am truly sorry that I wasted missles on an empty ship. They cost more than you think. Had you been in a warthog I would have ignored you.

Starfisher wins this debate. If everything in the game was easy it wouldn't be any fun. If you're not good at combat yet, learn. You don't learn unless you come under attack and have to defend yourself.
Basically, though noogies. Life sucks like that. If you insist on going into a dangerous area, hire an escort.
My going rate is 200 credits per sector jump plus cost of ammo. :)
You get a discount if you're flying a bus.

What Starfisher is trying to tell you is that you are entering the "blackmarket" that means IT IS HARDER. While you feel the equipment there will help you level faster, you do have to "earn" the equipment. That means you have to be able to sneak it out if you are too low to actually fight. I'm 4/3/2/3 and I learned how to level with the equipment available to me.

>if it's a pvp game that doesn;t mean u should start killing players left and right cuz it may be fun for u

Um ... yes it does mean that. It means exactly that. This is a PvP game because PvP is fun. You do have a choice, stay in your home sector, that's your non consenual PvP switch.

Honestly Timisoara9 this subject has been debated to death for years. A fundamental part of Vendetta is non consenual PvP, if there was no risk "to go in gray areas to buy myself some equipment that will help me level faster", then why should you be rewarded for making the trip. Why would it be fun the 10th time you do it if there is no risk. Why not just remove money from the game and start with all the equipment. (hint: because then there would be NO game)

I understand that you are frustrated right now, we've all been there but you have to understand that it's part of the game. If your getting mad then take a break, play something else for a bit, try again later. Heck get your friends together and hunt down Starfisher, ask the Vipers for help, whatever... Put some money on his head. I think you would find his death at your request very satisfying, but not if he hadn't got you first.

I think you'll find that if you stick with it you'll appreciate the rewards your new skills bring even more because it's not easy. This game is intended to be fun for the long haul.

In deregulated space, you're dogmeat without an escort. Plain and simple. Out there, the only law is the law that can be enforced by the barrels of your guns.

Timisoara9:

I sympathize with you, and understand how you feel. However, they have made some very pertinent points. The grey, or "unaligned" areas of space are a no mans land. Its a dog eat dog universe out there. If you want to be safe, reamin inside your starting nation, there are squads of bots that are designed to make that space more or less "safe" for you.

At this time there is not a lot of information about the universe availible in game to a new player. Some of that information would let you know the risks of leaving "claimed" territory.
Incidentally this brings me to my point. Devs, perhaps some more information in-game, possibly in nav map, would be useful. A listing in that big box on the right with a description of how dangerous a system is.
it would be great if they could be customized by nation, for instance an itani looking at the sol2 sector might see "the homeworld of the serco dominion, at present our diplomatic relations with the serco are strained and this area should be considered EXTREMELY dangerous"
while a serco looking at Sol2 might see "the center of known space. A proud beacon of our civilization, and the hopes of mankinds future"

anyone looking at Odia would see "unaligned space, enter at your own risk"

I'll be floating underneath unless a pirate of greater skill chases me away :D

While I think back and try to remember what it was like my first week in vendetta having Uncle Dave kill me my first time out of blue nation space, I have some remorse for the noobs getting slaughtered.

However you can easily lvl inside your nations boundries, in the old days only vets could get to the black market because of insane bots and hidden worm holes. By comparison it is a walk in the park now.

As it has been said, if you don't like combat stay at home!

Well, to day i started to play border patrol, and killed 3 player pirate they tried to fly into uUIT home space. I had many fun to patrol around the space. Not all in this game can control from NPC, there for it gives other player they hunt for the pirate.

The problem this time only, thers many new player, and some older one they know well whats going on. Im alsow only 6 day at the game but have no problem with PvP pirates.

If i fly my transporter, well i look around, if im fly at danger space, and try not to take the regular routs, so pirates have it not easy to follow me. The most player only accept the shortest route they get when they set it with navigation map. But some time they not the best, if you fly at dangerous space.

I fly allso a centaur, and escaped many times at grey system *smiles*. Well, it's litle bit tricky to escape if the closed behind, but it works if you know how to do.

And for all Pirate at UIT space, i will patrol many times from now on if im online, so hold you weapon ready *laught*

*salutes*

Good points everyone.

Now if we could only get this info into the pilot training video.

:)

Hmm. Yeah, this should probably make its way in-game in some way..
I had -no idea- the grey sectors were dangerous even on the bot side until someone told me -- which happened while I was on my way to Odia, 'cuz someone said there was good stuff there.

There really does need to be more warning to new players.

Hmm, Arta Caelestis and Dau should be relatively safe for newbs. I guess the people who did this found some way to get around the defbots and wh camp. Could this be a possible design flaw?

For now, I would recommend getting a mentor or an escort and traveling in a group. Space can be a dangerous place, and everyone has to take some precautionary measures.
