Every normal man...
must be tempted at times to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag and begin slitting throats."
Of all the writings from Old Earth that had trickled down through the ages and parsecs into his knowledge, that single line had to be Dr. Lecter's favorite. He recalled it again now, as he settled back into the well worn Itani-hide chair that dominated the space in front of the fireplace of his personal residence on Sol II.
He hadnt been planetside in over a year, but with the most recent developments in the universe hed needed a rest and some perspective. The massive black stone structure, dominating a long valley from a craggy peak in the highlands of Sol II, was his personal spaceport and home away from SCAR HQ. Now, having finished his meal, Dr. Lecter considered the universe as a whole, despite the more limited physical perspective afforded by windows, rather than his Valkyries cockpit.
From the Void, the Hives newest incarnation had emerged in Sedina and was spreading rapidly. While combined forces of the Itani and Serco nations, and the UIT conglomerate, had defeated several Strongholds, victories had been few thus far. I doubt if the necessary level of cooperation can be maintained for the requisite time to crush this threat, he mused. The pilot training programs are churning out more cannon fodder than ever, but what we need is experience. And yet that is precisely what Ive been missing of late.
And it was true. Many of Dr. Lecters most useful contacts had suddenly dropped off his scope; all attempts at communication with the BLAK com-grid had been rebuffed with a curt Intended Recipient Unknown. Reports of a massive explosion in BLAK HQ, were, as he had discovered, not entirely inaccurate. His sources within SCAR confirmed what tracking nodes on Miharus Valkyrie indicated: she was headed to Odia to investigate, where she would discover what he already knew. That, while BLAK Hive was still online in Dau, that was the extent of their presence in the universe now.
Miharu. Swirling his chianti, savoring the lingering taste of itani liver and fava beans on his palate, Dr. Lecter recalled a time when Miharu had meddled in his affairs, preventing him from completing a job in Azek. She should have let me finish Arolte then. He chuckled, Of course, long term thinking and wisdom were never Itani strengths.
Since then, Arolte had become a cancer. A pathetic parasite that managed to sap the life from what was far beyond his ability to create; he could destroy, corrupt, tarnish and rot. As Miharu will find, once she arrives in Odia! Lecter growled to himself. While he and a small SCAR taskforce had successfully hunted Arolte prior to the his return to Sol II, he knew more would be needed to properly eradicate this threat. And far too much damage had already been done...
All of which brings me back to Mencken. The universe will have to learn to unite anyway, with the Hives presence growing. I think its time for a more dedicated group, a prototype of things to come. And there will be no room for mercy, deceny or the old rules here...that time, it is clear, has past.
Dr. Lecter rose and headed to the Valkyrie bay. Let us hoist the BLAK flag, spit upon our hands, and let the bleeding begin, he thought, steering upwards through the atmosphere, and heading towards Odia.

Awesome story.
The BLAK hive remains. A ghostly reminder of what once was.
Sounds a bit too much like a hidden flame towards 'rolte to me.
Hidden? Hardly. Flame? Not at all-I'm merely "roleplaying." And I'll be "roleplaying" any time I gank Arolte, repeatedly kill Arolte, or lead a group that bottles Arolte up in his home station and camps him until he logs.
All of that is allowed by the structure of the game, and has been validated (though clearly not "condoned") by Guides and Devs over the past few days. The beginning of such "roleplaying" actions is the thrust of this story. Nothing more, nothing less.

And i shall be with you all the way Dr. Lecter
Dr. Lecter role plays like I role play.
Anything green on the radar gets shot at.
Anyone without a pirate tag gets shot at :)

And Dr. Lecter has excellent success with a good dose of chemotherapy. Recovery is slow but improving each day.
Tumor excised.
Yes, but tumors have sneaky ways of cropping back up under different guises...
I have no doubt as to the malignancy of this one, no. But it is a nice start.
what happened to this story?
It was a one-shot. One post, one shot, one story.
Heh, Bean's a youngin' ;)
ok, where can i find the first part of the lecer rp?
sweet. one of the best :). (I am biased of course, but meh).
Over the couple of years that I have been playing vo I have seen some excellent writing on the RP forum, of which this is an example.
Perhaps someone with a literary bent could act as editor and put the best stories together as a VO anthology , either as a separate read only forum like "screenshots", or as a section on the wiki .

I'd already recieved a suggestion to make a nicer version of the Index thread on the wiki with story statuses and stuff, so it should be up sooner or later.
