An Unanswered Plea

Aug 29, 2005 Ghost link
Ghost gazed at the stars of Bractus from the co-pilot seat of the personel transport carrying him back to SKV command. Seveal fighters from the Order of Eo were flying in formation around him. He had been ordered to return to begin a training session for some of the newer recruits to SKV as well as the IA. The itani alliance needed pilots badly and it looked like they we're pulling in a lot of greenhorns.

His thoughts wandered to the elusive Order of Akan. There had been an uncomfortable silence from them for quite some time now. The longer he did not hear any reports in reguards to the Order's movements, the more nervous he became. It seemed almost as if he was fighting a war against two separate nations now...

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a squelch from the com.

"This is Serco transport 5117A requesting assistance from any nearby military vessel! We are under attack by pirate marauders! Please, we are unarmed and transporting civilian supplies. Help us!"

Ghost could barely catch a glimpse of rocket explosions as well as four separate engine trails in the distance. He raised the fighter escort on his com.

"Transport requesting assistance at 2800km to port."

There was no reply. Ghost repeated himself, but recieved a stern reply from a low Itani voice.

"You have no authority with the Order of Eo, Lieutenant Ghost. You will not issue orders to us."

The Serco transport repeated their distress call. "Taking heavy damage, we can't evade them much longer! I beg you, we are a civilian transport, please assist!"

Ghost raised the Itani squad leader on his com again. "Do you not hear that, pilot? Those are non-combatants that need your assistance. I don't give a damn whether I have authority or not, those people are going to die if you don't help them!"

"They are not people, they are Serco." Came the chilling reply.

Ghost was speechless. The pleas of the Serco transport echoed again into his com.

"For the love of God, do something!" There was a pause. When the pilot spoke again his tone had changed from that of urgency to sorrow. "I don't want to die! Oh please god don't let me-"

Static filled the com as Ghost saw a small explosion in the distance. The pirate vessels swooped like vultures at the cargo spilling loose from the wreckage of the transport.

"Jump distance reached. Prepare for warp." Announced the Itani fighter squad leader.

Ghost fell back into his chair. He thought back to the look in the eyes of Henry Jekyll as he died. The screams of the transport pilot echoed in his head all the way back to SKV headquarters. As he exited the transport Ghost saw the Itani fighter squad leader approach him.

The pilot began to reprimand him, "I don't care what rank you are in what guild you're in, Skygge whatever. You do not issue my fighter squad orders in-"

Ghost cut him off with a swift palm strike underneath his chin. Blood sprayed out of the pilots mouth as he bit through his own tongue. The pilot fell to the ground holding his mouth. Ghost continued walking.

The Order of Eo's idea of peace surely did not involve letting helpless Serco civilian pilots die needlessly. Or at least he hoped. Things were changing in the universe, but if these were the kind of pilots that the Order was training nowadays then there was not much that made them different from the Serco. It had been so long since he had been to Itan... He hoped the Itan he was fighting for still existed.

Clearing his mind of these troublesome thoughts, Ghost conlcluded that this one pilot was a rare rotten case... or at least he hoped it was. Either way he could not bother with it more at this time. It was time for the new SKV and IA pilots to be trained. Trained so situations like what had happened today would not happen under his, Bojan's, or Kernel Panic's command.

Indeed, more training is required. Cooperation between Itani, rather than petty rivalries, is what will win out in the end.

In case any of you are wondering, the unanswered plea in the title refers to one of my (sometimes) silent ones:
"Why can't people stop spamming up the role-playing boards with their latest 'genius' creation about their hardcore adventures in the land of hardcoreness where everyone has a penis three times bigger than anything I've ever seen in even the most blatantly faked pictures of great white whales?"

@Genka: Never said my work was genious. Just felt like writing it one day and decided to put it up on the boards.

As for spamming the RP boards with RP stories... well, maybe I'm just an idiot but I thought that's what they were for. You know, an RP forum for RP posts... could be just me though.

Also: /me wonders why Genka loves to talk about penis so much...

It's a great story so far, Ghost, keep it up!
(obvious penis reference pun excluded)
