TGFT and EnB will again be hosting The Deneb Run this weekend at 12:01 AM GMT Sunday. Please check /time if you are confused about GMT.

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 4 Million credits in prizes are available. Some of it could be yours!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed, except those listed in #10.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (2 million credits)
8) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (1.2 million credits)
9) Third person back gets 3rd place prize (800k credits)
10) No Valkyries allowed.
11) Racers must use the standard VO client, not the new one in testing.
12) If there are at least 3 racers, and less than 3 racers complete The Deneb Run, the undistributed prize money will be awarded to those who killed the racers as follows:
- The most recent kill gets the highest unawarded prize
- The 2nd most recent kill gets the second highest unawarded prize
- etc.

Example: If 1 racer finishes, the player that had the last kill of a racer will receive a 1.2 million credit prize, and the player that had the 2nd most recent kill would receive 800k credits.

I believe this is a good way of saying thanks to those who help spice things up for the racers.

Simple, if someone crashes during the race, they're using the new client :)

Announcing the results of The Deneb Run #30, sponsored by TGFT and EnB.

This was a huge race, and I would like to thank Obsidian for helping me co-host it this week. Also, Solra Bizna handed out prizes for 4th place (350k) and all other finishers (25k). Finally, thanks in advance to moldyman for helping do the lengthy part of the writeup.

The Pilots

Erik C.: UIT, member of SB, his well known alt is the winningest racer in The Deneb Run.

fooz2916: UIT, he is a veteran racer that has never placed outside the top 3.

John Rambler: UIT, member of TGFT, he is a veteran racer who placed 2nd in The Deneb Run #27.

Ronic Noctis, UIT, member of TGFT, he is a veteran racer who placed 3rd in The Deneb Run #28.

ananzi: UIT, he is a veteran racer who placed 3rd in The Deneb Run #17.

Joyce Sanders: UIT, member of SB, wife of Erik C., and hostess at the Makchuga, she is a veteran racer.

Spaceranger: Serco, member of TGFT, he started racing last week.

who? me?: Serco, he previously raced in The Deneb Run #17.

Pa Sol: Itani, this was his first time racing.

ImNotHere: UIT, this was his first time racing.

Mick: UIT, this was his first time racing.

Broma-Ba Slick: UIT, Council member and Lieutenant in TGFT, this was his first time racing.

(Brian Gilbear): this pilot asked to race and, I think, was racing. However, he wouldn't join either race group, rarely reported position, and I don't have any stats other than finish time.

The Race
--------
With a record thirteen racers (and record three false starts, only one major one, though), the race finally took off properly. First to the wormhole was Erik C., followed by ananzi, Spaceranger and Ronic Noctis. Behind them, Joyce Sanders came in as pilot 13 and John Rambler were just leaving the M-14 sector. Erik C. still kept the lead into Sedina, followed by a quickly closing Ronic Noctis and ImNotHere. Spaceranger took 4th with Joyce Sanders and Mick behind. fooz2916 was following this group as pilot 13 and John Rambler were hurrying to make up for their late start. Erik C. pulled ahead by a twenty second lead over Ronic Noctis, who was only a mere second ahead of Joyce Sanders. The rest of the race group slowed down either hitting the storm in F-7 or taking extra time to plot around it.

Ronic Noctis, Spaceranger and Erik C. switched up positions throughout Latos and Ukari, juggling the placing spots between them. ImNotHere and Joyce Sanders came in moments later as the top three zoomed into Ukari. Broma-Ba Slick was in Sedina with his racing moth, while ananzi was entering Latos. Baron Koob was attacking At this point, Eik C. roared ahead for the lead, a lead he would keep and extend for the rest of the race. Spaceranger entered Initros while Ronic Noctis entered Helios. ImNotHere was a little ahead of Joyce Sanders entering Initros. fipi was on the prowl nearby, attacking racers. The racers split off through the multiple ways to get from Ukari to Sol II and rejoined to form a single line. Erik C. still had the lead as the racers fell in behind him. Spaceranger was one jump behind followed by ImNotHere and Ronic Noctis. Not seconds later Spaceranger screamed "OMG! NO! NO! NO!" over the group chat. All but the last time he was marked in Sol II, last time back at Odia M-14. As he put it, in the matchup of Spaceranger vs Roid, Roid 1, Spaceanger 0.

Next into Sol II was fooz2916, then Joyce Sanders a minute or two behind. John Rambler rumbled on behind the group, just having entered Dantia. ImNotHere was the 2nd place holder at this point, followed by fooz2916 for 3rd. Joyce Sanders and Ronic Noctis were close for 4th and 5th. Brian Gilbear entered Sol II as Erik C roared on into Eo, leaving the 2nd and 3rd place racers in Deneb two jumps behind. Broma-Ba Slick and his #32 Racing Moth "The Spirit of Profit" parked to take a call and dropped out of the race. Erik C. was pulling out of the only storm he hit in Setalli as the next three racers (Ronic Noctis, fooz2916 and ImNotHere) fought in Cantus for the next two spots. Joyce Sanders entered Deneb, still ahead of Brian Gilbear. Kapis Denton attacked Erik C. in Itan with two Government Issue Blasters, while the racers were entering Setalli Shinas and about to hit the storm they didn't know about.

John Rambler was eliminated in Serco space by spuck's dead hamster, as was the hamster's Serco standing. Meeting light UIT resistance along the way, Erik C. cruised into Odia M-14 unattended to dock for the win. fooz2916 came in almost five minutes thirty seconds later for 2nd and Ronic Noctis came in for 3rd. Joyce Sanders came in 5th with ImNotHere ahead of her as Brian Gilbear came in for 6th. All the other contestants having been eliminated or left the race, the 30th Run to Deneb and back was over.

Interesting observations:

1) The Deneb Run was moved two hours earlier in order to better allow European players to participate. Boy did that work... This was the biggest race ever with 13 racers.

2) Erik C. now has the 2nd fastest time ever since Ghost set the record at 26:55 in The Deneb Run #2. Erik C. beat his alt's best time by 47 seconds, and LeberMac's best time from The Deneb Run #17 by 2 seconds.

3) The racers encountered remarkably few storms this week, which may have helped considerably with #2.
