TGFT and EnB will again be hosting The Deneb Run this weekend.

The plan is to alternate between 22:00 GMT on Saturday and 02:00 GMT on Sunday.

Check /time if you are confused about GMT.

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 4 Million credits in prizes are available. Some of it could be yours!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed, except those listed in #10.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (2 million credits)
8) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (1.2 million credits)
9) Third person back gets 3rd place prize (800k credits)
10) No Valkyries allowed.
11) Racers must use the standard VO client. The beta clients are not allowed.
12) Money for killing other racers: Any pilot, racing or not, is eligible to earn money as follows:

Pre-condition #1: There must be at least 3 racers
Pre-condition #2: Less than 3 racers complete The Deneb Run
If the above pre-conditions are met, the undistributed prize money will be awarded to those who killed the racers as follows:
- Kills in the Odia M-14 sector are not eligible
- The most recent eligible kill earns the highest unawarded prize money (2 mil, 1.2 mil, 800k, or 0)
- The 2nd most recent eligible kill earns the 2nd highest unawarded prize money (1.2 mil, 800k, or 0)
- The 3rd most recent eligible kill earns the 3rd highest unawarded prize money (800k or 0)

I believe this is a good way of saying thanks to those who help spice things up for the racers, without encouraging station camping (which is too easy).

Nine racers took off out of Odia M-14, nine racers left...

Blackhole Goldclaw hit an unmarked asteroid field as the rest plotted around and to the wormhole. Stranger was there first, followed quickly by toshiro and then Joe Beleu. Cobalt, Mick and GRAIg were next, with hortan behind. The racers zoomed into Sedina, only to have some meet their demise. Both GRAIG daOne and joe Beleu were killed by the Sedina-Odia wormhole. fooz2916 rushed into B-8, followed quickly by Stranger and Cobalt314. Mick was ahead in Latos, while toshiro led Hortan a little bit, all the remaining racers having cleared the gauntlet mr_spuck had set up.

Seven racers running a lap, seven racers left...

fooz2916 led the pack, heading into Helios with a small lead and deciding to repair from some fire he took earlier. Cobalt 314 and Blackhole Goldclaw were entering Initros with toshiro one jump behind, also heading for Helios. Hortan was just about to leave Latos, rounding out the pack. Stranger had died on the way, taken out by the vicious pirates.

Five racers on the road, five racers left...

So, at this point, almost 50% of the racers had been taken out and they were just entering Serco space. The survivors continued, safe for the moment. Taking various routes through Pyronis, Initros, Rhamus and Helios, they arrived single file to the Dantia-Sol II wormhole. fooz2916 was first there with a fourty second lead on Cobalt 314. toshiro came afterwards, followed later by Blackhole Goldclaw. Hortan was all the way back in Helios. It was at this point that Cobalt314, through an unfortunate set of circumstances, warped very near to, and heading towards, a huge asteroid, plowing right into it. Not a moment later, mr_spuck shouted victoriously that he had taken fooz2916 down.

Three racers not halfway through, three racers left...

toshiro enquired about the status of the racers. He was shocked when he discovered, to his dismay, that he was now the leader of the pack. Blackhole Goldclaw was in Sol II, trying to catch up to the leader and survive against the Serco strike forces as toshiro cruised through Betheshee. Hortan was crawling forward into Pyronis and then Dantia. They kept moving ahead, under constant attack from the menacing pirates. toshiro was entering Eo, with Blackhole Goldclaw in Deneb when Hortan was taken down by Greebo at the exit from Geria Rutilus.

Two beleaguered racer left, two racers running for their lives...

Blackhole Goldclaw would not find refuge in Itani space, being hated there as well. So he merely switched from the strike forces of one nation to those of another. That's not to say toshiro wasn't under fire as well, but he was faster and better prepared. fooz2916 would assault the racers near Metana, along with very few other pirates throughout the Itani portion of the circuit. toshiro came out into Edras ahead of Blackhole Goldclaw by only about ten seconds. Blackhole Goldclaw would stop to repair but it was all for naught. Mecha Touriuas had a vendetta and completed it, taking Blackhole out of the Run. toshiro was under constant fire, but took the advice of racer veterans and docked in Pelatus Bunker for a jury rigged repair to his armor. Leaving and hurrying through Bractus, he came under attack by Theesadri and 0. He warped into odia and ran for dear life... but his hopes of docking were torn down, his Prometheus strong, but not strong enough.

No racers to complete the Run, no racers at all.

Interesting Facts
----------------------

1) It's so depressing to look back at how many races ended like this, with 75%+ racers killed. This is not the first time all the racers were killed, nor the second....

2) The new time earlier did attract more racers... and, disproportianally, more pirates (or reavers as it was pointed out), too.

3) This may be the first time not a single racer made it to the finish sector, toshiro being eliminated in Odia O-7.

By the way, toshiro, you were going on 45 minutes before you were killed in Odia O-7.

So when did Mick die, and how?

Even if I did crawl, (and I did!!) and was shot by pirates/reavers, I had fun.

If some of the pirates would try and run maybe they would see that there is excitement in that as well

This race was amazing. I believe someone noted that we had 61 players online at the beginning. I'll be more prepared next time ;-).

And I had 2x Gemini's. That comment about the Adv Rails was just to phyche out the other racers.

I don't run if mine's above 200, GRAIG, which is why Joyce passed on the Run this time.

And I still think the sheer amount of pirates on this timeslot makes it too frustrating.
