Announcing the results of The Deneb Run #49, sponsored by TGFT and EnB. Special thanks to Miharu for helping collect racer stats and co-announcing.

The Pilots
----------
Blue Streak: Itani, member of SB, he is the winningest pilot in The Deneb Run, host of the Corporate Sectors Run AND Nation War events, sometimes announcer of The Deneb Run, and has done many race writeups for The Deneb Run.

Mick: UIT, council member of PA, he's a veteran racer with many top 3 finishes and three wins in The Deneb Run, including the last two consecutive weeks. He's also won the Corporate Sectors Run several times, and holds the current record time in that race.

Ion Storm: UIT, member of TGFT, he already has a win and a 2nd place finish, this is his third race.

Joyce Sanders: UIT, Commander of SB, she is a very competitive veteran racer and has earned a win and many top 3 finishes in The Deneb Run.

Spaceranger: UIT, member of TGFT, this veteran racer tries valiantly and has a 2nd place finish, but more often than not he doesn't cross the finish line.

ananzi: UIT, member of BHu, this is his third race.

CygnusX: Serco, council member and Lieutenant of ST6, this is his second race.

The Stats
---------
Mick | 28:56 | IDF Valk, FC, no weaps
CygnusX | 29:50 | Orion Hornet, FC, no weaps
Ion Storm | 30:35 | IDF Valk, FC, 1x Phase Blaster MkII
Blue Streak | 32:15 | Warthog MkII, FC, no weaps
Joyce Sanders | DNF | IDF Valk, UC, no weaps
fooz2916 | DNF | Warthog MkII, FC, Gems
Spaceranger | DNF | IDF Valk, FC, no weaps
ananzi | DNF | TPG Raptor, FC, no weaps

Interesting observations:

1. In an amazing display of high speed docking prowess, Mick actually docked to repair his hull (which was down to 11%) in Geira Rutilus, and he still won.

2. NPC pirates killed 2 racers before they even made it to Latos. Player pirates had only 1 kill (Joyce as she was trying to dock). (fooz2916 dropped out before finishing.)

3. During the race, the pilots started a discussion about the fairness of the Valkyrie vs other ships, because it has such good acceleration. I'm willing to consider re-banning it if a majority of people are in favor of a ban.

...maybe TGFT could open another race, with only one valid ship and loadout, for the "hard-core racer"

..I'd propose a free-gun Raptor race from Dantia to Edras; instead of declaring the winner to be the first person to dock at a station, why not the first one to jump through the last wormhole?

I say yes to the re-banning of the valk. It's pretty much unavailable to Serco players, unless you want to a) betray your nation and b) invest lots of time.

Bronab gave me an on the fly repair. Took about 10 seconds maximum.

Valks are the best racer, period. When we didn't have them, we had much more variation, in racing ships and in placing ships. While the Orion Hornet was a strong racer, it is not nearly the be all and end all of the 3300kg Valkyrie.

Well, I hear Screwball's having some problem collecting the prize money form a certain Guild, but if solvency could be solved, then I'd agree to having "Valk-only" and "No Valks allowed" versions of the Run. Like the different CC circuits in the races (no idea if those circuits are still in existance).

I wouldn't characterize it as having trouble collecting. I just hadn't reminded them in while. I made contact after the race and expect things to be back to normal soon. In the meantime, I'm covering it, and if I somehow run out I can draw on the resources of TGFT's treasury.

That said, I'm not keen to fund a 2nd race. I'd prefer we either have valks in or out. If people want to do something special once in a while as a novelty, like only allow EC-89's, that's cool.

>_>

I barely finished that with three people guarding me.

In that case, take them out. Like it's been said already, Valks are pretty much off-limits to Serco players and thus puts them at an unfair disadvantage.
