Deneb Run #57

Jul 27, 2006 Screwball link
I will be away this weekend and not able to run the race. Anyone want to host it? I can provide prize money to cover TGFT and EnB, plus a bonus.

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 4 Million credits in prizes are available. Some of it could be yours!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed, except those listed in #10.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (2 million credits)
8) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (1.2 million credits)
9) Third person back gets 3rd place prize (800k credits)
10 Valkyrie ships are not allowed.
11) Attempting to trigger a false start of the race is grounds for disqualification.
12) Money for killing other racers: Any pilot, racing or not, is eligible to earn money as follows:

Pre-condition #1: There must be at least 3 racers
Pre-condition #2: Less than 3 racers complete The Deneb Run
If the above pre-conditions are met, the undistributed prize money will be awarded to those who killed the racers as follows:
- Kills in the Odia M-14 sector are not eligible
- The most recent eligible kill earns the highest unawarded prize money (2 mil, 1.2 mil, 800k, or 0)
- The 2nd most recent eligible kill earns the 2nd highest unawarded prize money (1.2 mil, 800k, or 0)
- The 3rd most recent eligible kill earns the 3rd highest unawarded prize money (800k or 0)

Please reply to this thread if you intend to race.

Depending on the number of racers for the races this week, I may be trying something a little different with the groups. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

UPDATE: The rules for the 57th Deneb Run have been revised in the following manner:

Race progress announcements will be made on channel 500.

The race will start in an empty sector to be announced after all racers are in the racing group(s). This is to avoid the issue of the unaligned pirate bots attacking while we go over the rules in M-14 now that they spawn in station sectors.

Announcing the results of The Deneb Run #57, sponsored by EnB and TGFT.

The Pilots
----------
Mick: UIT, council member of PA, he's a veteran racer with many top 3 finishes and four wins in The Deneb Run, including the last three consecutive weeks. He's also won the Corporate Sectors Run several times, and holds the current record time in that race.

Blue Streak - A Lieutenant-Councilor of Sigma Shipping, and the founder of the Corporate Sectors Run, Erik "Blue Streak" Christianson is one of the top racers in both the Deneb Run as well as his own CSR.

MiexonBionic: UIT, Commander of PA, he has raced several times before and has earned a 3rd place finish.

Stranger - An Itani member of Sigma Shipping, Stranger is not new to the racing scene but he has been taking a break for the past few weeks.

Kenjara - A UIT member of the Cargo Liberation Movement (CLM), this is his first Deneb Run. He has raced in the CSR once before.

Moby Dick - The Itani commander of the largely-UIT Guild of Free Traders. This is his first race.

The Race

[check here later]

The Stats
---------
Mick | 28:23 | Vulture MkIII, FC, no weaps
Blue Streak | 29:10 | EC-107, FC, no weaps
MiexonBionic | 33:43 | Vulture MkIII, Hive FC, no weaps
Moby Dick | 35:13 | Tunguska Mineral Marauder, FC, Concussion Mines
Kenjara | DNF | Atlas MkIII, FC, Neutron Blaster MkII and Chaos Swarms
Stranger | DNF | Warthog MkII, FC, no weaps

Interesting Observations:
1) Moby's choice of a 180m/s Marauder surprised me, but nowhere near as much as the fact that he finished. Congrats!
2) The race was started in a sector other than Odia M-14 for the second time since it started last year. (The first time was in Odia B-13 and it was for the very first Deneb Run.) This change occurred because of the new Deliverator pirates, who now spawn in station sectors.
3) fooz2916 added a secondary prize to the race: four lawguns to first place, two to second, and one to third. The lawguns were "valued at 60k each". The second place winner declined his share.
