Thanks allot for the answers u already gave,.. while looking at the pictures i came across another few questions...

I thought i saw something or read something (not sure doing allot of stuff at the same time right now :P) About mining, what's the advantage there?

And can you actually go to the planets? I saw a picture with a gold ship flying over the belt of saturnus being awful close to the planet itself,...

Are there any special skills you can gain by repeating something over and over again ?
trading skills f.e? i donno just asking

Currently I play a game named Endless Ages. And that has allot of trading skills in it that you just need to repeat endlessly to gain exp.

Ooh another question,.. are there quests in this Test/game ?
Nov 06, 2003 crazydeb8r link
Hey - here's tha nswer to those questions:

1:Mining is not implemented yet - hopefully you'll be able to mine minerals from asteroids and sell them...

2: No, can't go to planets...yet. Maybe that'll be in it, maybe not.

3: No special skills - bt you might find a secret or two ;-)

4: Missions are coming after the reset - Almost right away. That's the next step.

You should just hop in, and ask someone for help. My in game character is "Hitania" or "Hilix Tenra" or "Defense Ship 13". Ask any Defense Ship for help, they'll be more than happy to assist you.

sidenote: everyone is friendly till you do something mean. so if you go and kill a noob (when you are better and really get a groove for playing the game) then you will be thought of as a mean and jerkish kind of person. in other words dont kill noobs unless they are asking for a duel*.

"if you are yourself and dont go around The third way is bounty hunting/player killing. This is the most risky, and should only be done by experienced pilots. You get a really mean fighter and go around shooting up other players. Each player will get you at least 40 credits minimum, in addition to extra bounty and cargo. However, this will harm your reputation in the community."

as stated going around killing people for no reason is a good way of getting on the i dont like you list. if you want a duel ask the player you wish to duel. i dont reccomend this but you can do so if you wish. rearranging your configuation is a good way to learn what you are comfortable with and what you are not.

* duel: battle involving 2 opponents in which 1 person dies of death, gives up, or returns to the station. docking during a duel isnt really appropriate, and interfearing with a duel will result in a hunt for you. in which you are constantly killed over and over again.

Moomin, I'd like to add to what spectre said.

Right now is the part of Vendetta history called "pre-reset" bash. Right now, everyone has a ton of money, and know that they will lose it in a week or so. There was a bug in the code that allowed people to gain as much money as they wanted. Thus, a lot of people that would not have normally acted in a hostile manner are going around shooting up anything that moves.

If you find that your experience with the game is interrupted too many by these "griefers" (a term given by the community to those that "grief" players by constantly hunting and repeatedly killing them), ask in public chat for some money to last until the reset. A ship can cost from 10,000 to 50,000 credits. You might go through up to twenty of these each time you play (if you're heavily into combat). So you can see how quickly you can go through money. Ask a veteran player for a couple of millions credits. I'd be happy to give you several, to last until the reset. Meanwhile, get a feel for the game, and jump into the combat, so that you won't be completely defenseless when the reset comes around (all money, ships, inventories, and scores reset to 0).

'They're all "look at me i'm tough" "what u n00b? Proof urself"'

It reminds me everquest. Some people would have a high level character and say the same thing like that. Or say that hes been in the beta.

but to my surprise, the mmopgs I visited, they greeted newbies..

In that case is because its not hosted by a big corperation(sell it depends though).

moomin remember also this is an engine test not a full game so some of the things you ask about are still in development or pre-development

Just remember, that when stuff breaks, it is because the devs put hard long hours into the game to bring it to us, when 3.3 came out, a1k0n was the one to release it, there were tons of bugs and he was up late (technically early), don't complain about the bugs, just make note of them with the handy bug reporter, and the handy bugs forum.

*yawn*

Lemming is going to bed now.

oh and dont forget that the dump truck thing... that must have taken some time... lol j/k

that dump truck thing did cause some problems but the bugs are the things we are looking for in this test.

Regarding the Serco: We have a bit of a reputation to live down. Being a warlike race, we show no quarter once battle is joined, and thus have earned a reputation as merciless pirates. It is true that there are those among our ranks who fight without honor, as with any nation, but be assured that they fight for their own glory, and not that of our lord, Serco.

A word on Lady Serco:

She is our guiding light in the dark of space, the force behind the thrust of our spear and the burn behind our tachyon blast. She was our leader in battles, and commanded our armies to a historic near-victory over the Itani, only to be struck down in treachery at the conclusion of the campaign. For this reason, we consider the Itani incapable of speaking truth, and they are our sworn enemies. The Neutrals we don't really care either way about unless they get in the way of our campaigns, or they have something we desire.
