Yeha was listening on guild chat but no one was online, heard lots of leakage about 8 hours from this post.
I tried using guild chat once. It wouldn't initialize because I'm on a Mac.

No, you "can't" It just happens sometimes on its own. I don't know what triggers it or why but once in a while I'll just start hearing somebody talking.

Voice chat is still "leaking". I was in a group by myself (I like to feel like I have friends) and I started hearing someone's music.
It wasn't good music.

Ok, thanks. Sucks that it's still leaking. Tracking this down has been annoying.
We'll check into it when we can, although obviously it's a lower priority than debugging current issues like "server-crashy-ness" or "DX11-is-sad" or whatever.
FYI: The Apple thing was not us. Apple changed the way libraries can be handled, in an OS update. It was causing the client to outright crash, so instead we just disabled voice chat there. The last I talked to Ray about it, there did not appear to be a work-around, and we're limited because voice chat an external, third-party library, and we don't have the source code. We can try looking into it again, but, yeah.. falls under "not a crushing priority compared to other problems". Nothing personal against Macs, honest :).

But you gotta admit that bad music can be almost as terrible as server crashes...almost
On a side note: even in the wake of all the bs that's been going on do remember that you still have many subscribers that are really happy with the progress and direction of the game, so don't be too hard on yourselves

Well, I just had a chat with devilman. Excellent audio quality, clear as a bell. Only trouble is he is in RED and I'm in TGFT.
Timed at sunday, 22:25 uk time.
One odd thing. The speaker symbol shows when I press ptt in a group, but I'm sure it used to show in the ship box when talking to guild but not grouped. Now it doesn't. May be nothing to do with the leaks, but worth noting.
I also get this or similar in the errors log:

I was using Voice chat with Darth Nihilus, Neon Black, and another player and it was very clear, no leakage, and the conversation lasted about 15-20 minutes with no problems.
We had interesting conversation Sunday evening with some RED, BLAK, FAMY, and TGFT members all hearing each other.
It was fun tho rar xD

I have to admit. there's something to be said for leakage. It's usually the only time I turn VC on since I get to hear folk in other guilds (or non-guilded).
If VC is ever properly sorted out, perhaps there can be a universal channel set aside in addition to guild and group. Or screw it... just make it default to universal and make group chat an override.

Yea man...I actually really enjoyed talking with those guys, and I would have never done that without the leaking.
I agree that even if it is sorted out, they add the "100" voice chat channel.
Voice chat is a feature that is severely undervalued at the moment. It would go a long way to helping new players.

It was fun rar, without vc I'd probably be a normal bear in tgft....but these two days I've used vc...with famy and red, I've been having the funniest time rar. +1 to a universal chat rar!
More leakage about 5 minutes ago.

I know that it is a low priority, but just let us know if there is any other information that we could report that would useful.

Voice chat comes with a bandwidth cost (for us), which is why it isn't a general "100" public thing. It's also a bandwidth cost to a lot of people on mobile, obviously; it uses about 50x as much bandwidth as the game. Mobile bandwidth costs in some countries can be quite high.
But, general-availability voice chat would be a cool thing to have, I agree. It helps a lot with VR too.
Anyway, I don't have any specific debugging requests right now. Thanks for the reports. We'll look into it when we can.. which unfortunately isn't likely to be very soon, with everything we have going on.
