*** Vendetta 1.8.371

Mar 02, 2016 meridian link
- The furie related missions have been added back into the game.
- Furies no longer target players if they or the targeted player is in the No-Fire Zone. Temp KoS ramifications of Furie actions are now applied to the owner of the Furie, as though the action was performed by that player.
- Removed support for Windows XP.
- Added a CAPTCHA for anyone who is not a premium subscriber and has been logged in for 6 total hours over the previous 12 hours. The CAPTCHA must be solved within 5 minutes, or the player is kicked offline; after which it must be solved the next time the player tries to log in.
- Updated Leap Motion drivers.

It's nice to have furies back nevertheless, how about getting back the 'squad' too?

The squad is back already. Someone tried to use it to kill my XC yesterday, seems they also trigger the NFZ :D

Yoda, the real question is... how come you are not TPG KOS and you were actually flying XC?

Btw, thanks for the heads up about squad, been too busy to log on this week.

When the devs made valuable loot that couldn't be hauled in anything but an XC, they caused some RP issues for piracy. Do what you gotta do to pirate those goodies.

Nice. Thanks for putting the furies back and addressing some of the exploit opportunities they gave.

Did this also fix the CtC and convoy NPCs being immune to the NFZ?

The fact that this was even necessary is stupid.

Why have you removed the ability to let them attack in NFZ's if they mirror the player's faction penalties now? This seems unnecessary, and shows an inability to allow strike forces to attack the bots under players' control.

This seems especially true for CTC and Convoy bots, since they can attack without triggering the NFZ, and you seem to think that it's more appropriate to let them attack you, so long as you're not in the NFZ. Why not just let them attack you, but under the same penalties that we currently get as players?

Because factional penalties are not the same thing as NFZs. I'm willing to live with people using Furies to attack people in monitored or guarded space in general. I am not willing to let people use them to totally newbie-hunt within NFZs.

They also don't completely mirror the player's faction penalties yet, only Temp KoS, which is much more ephemeral right now. This whole thing was a work in progress that happened within very limited time availability. Some of it needs more drastic development work, and design changes, to make it more general-case.

The existence and improvement of one problem does not have any relation to fixing similar bugs in a totally different codebase. Just because they're both "bots" does not mean they're even written in the same language.

Maybe we could just focus on "it's nice to have the furies back.. at all".
