Just sent in $20. Sign me up for monthly fees as well. I could probably handle anywhere from $5-$15/month easily. Maybe as high as $25 if everything goes well.

It would be nice to get some financing going, but perhaps its going about a bit of the wrong way. Sure, a lot of current players say "What's 5$ a month".. or 10$, 15$... but how many new players are going to say. Hey, lets pay money to try this game that isnt even finished yet and still has bugs and features in developement...

Any sort of monthly, startup, or "30 day trial period" drives off a repectable amount of people who would have stuck around to become a paying customer if they just had enough time to get to like it.

So if ya like it, and you can afford it. Hey, send them money, whatever you want, whenever you can. But don't go right to making it something you need to play...

Also, from several other games I play online, all of which are free and staying that way, there are other ways to make money. A little bit of second hand equipment and a photoshop program and you sell shirts and sweatshirts from the website. Maybe a ceramic mug or iron on transfer sheet. Sometimes you just plain sell a picture on fancy paper for 5$ because some people just want something to hang on the wall... There's lots of ways to make money off a game theme without actually making it from the game.

The company is in danger of going under. If they completely scare off all new players from this TEST in order to keep the test alive, so be it. Voluntary random donations obviously haven't worked so far. We need only keep this going until Guild finds a publisher - or determines that they will NEVER find a publisher. In either case, they no longer will need donations or a monthly fee from their testers.

I'd like to see some of the reasons that publishers rejected this game. Also, which publishers did Guild go to? There's got to be someone who'd go for this game. Maybe the publishers see how long it has taken Guild to get this far, and are worried that it will be another 3 years before it is ready to go gold. Maybe the publishers want to hire their own dev team or something.

From Starfisher "The company is in danger of going under." Yes, and that is why the game needs a future, not just the current players keeping it going. If the game is going to make it to being published, or having any future at all, then new players have to keep finding, liking, and deciding to stick a little money into it to keep it going.

I can safely assume all of the Lords would be more than happy to pay. List:
LordFear (me)
LordViking
LordAntichrist
Lord Gruthar

This is a great game that I'd be happy to pay to support.

Some of the reasons publishers don't "grab on"...

1. No other selling published titles, so they are considered "n00bs" in the world of game development.

2. Size, guild is small and the amount of players is also quite small. I guess if guild prolly had a team of 20 people with 200+ active players daily not just 30-40, they would look more appealing to publishers.

Ohh yea and pyro HockeyFan04 said 4 people not just 1 :P

I am also amazed we hit over 50 people, how about you all give me that 10 a month and you can help put me through college :D

i'm all for pay-per-play, although it would bereave me of the possibility to play (no credit card...). but it's better if the company can continue doing what they are doing now, no question about that.
now, if GSW made it possible for arduous fans of the test/game to pay by other means than credit card, i'd be happy to pay for it (ranging from USD 5 up to 10 monthly)
