There is a steady interest in the TGFT mining events. We will continue to sponsor ore exploration events. We have developed effective bot herding techniques and are ready for a systematic sweep of the sectors. Some defenders report changes in the bot behaviors. This has increased the demand for experienced fighters to help defend the miners from these pirate threats.

As always TGFT will provide monetary compensation and Combat XP to full participants.

I will run another mission Tuseday, June 21st at 9pm CT (2:00 GT)
Length 60-90 minutes to be determined based on registration.

Meet at Fenhall Mining in AZEK and we'll see where we'll go from there.

If you have a suggestion for a sector/system please leave me a message here or /msg me in game

not to take away from the devs site at all, but I'm trying to create a centralized place other then the RPG forum here for people to place info like this for others to see more easily, as such the vo-wiki has a current events page [ http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Current_events ] that I've been linking posts to just like this one. If anyone else has groups they want to form or events they would like to see post them there as well. =)

See you tonight for the expedition. B)

I tried this event out for the first time and I gotta say it kicked major ass. Thanks a lot for organizing this, Obsidian. I think it has breathed new life into Vendetta. It has a made it A LOT more fun than the usual botting and trading routine I'm used to. I hope the new mission system changes will allow events like these to be organized in a much easier way.

Regarding the event itself, I have to say defending the miners was pretty fun. I haven't had this much fun since the days of CTF. And having a Valk pirate interrupt made it even more exciting. I hope they don't nerf the Warthog TD in the next balance update either. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that they don't. It's perfect right now. It did an excellent job in defending the miners and it held its own against the Valks. It is truly UIT's special ship and it does its job well.

Could the next event be in verasi? There is lots of pentric and xith there, and while the bots are harder, it would be more of a challenge, so maybe there would be higher xp rewards. :)

Yar, many a roid was protected from the likes of ye tonight! May yer pentric time out often, the bots consume yer centrs, and my flares catch ye before ye can warp! :D

We used information provided by one of the scouts and decided to explore Verasi. While we did find pentric ore, we were under constant assault by bots and a lone pirate.
It appeared that the pirate, Dr. Lecter, had prepared for our event and had what seemed an enless supply of ships and weapons. Maybe this was the final event for Dr. Lecter and it was his way of saying farewell.

While the death rate was higher than usual, the participants appeared in good spirits.

We were unable to mine as much ore as anticipated but all full participants were paid for thier hard work and efforts on our behalf.

TGFT would also like to acknowledge the constant work of Mecha (defender) and Broma-Ba (miner) who have particiapted in 5 events each.

Next event will be posted soon.

Had I not fallen asleep that afternoon I might've been able to defend some of those miners. Unfortunately my lack of sleep caught up to me that day. Oh well, better luck next time. Sorry guys.

lol same here arolte, took too long of a nap
Jun 26, 2005 LeberMac link
Oh, thanks Arolte/Blacklight. Hehe. I was leading 11 Valent Assaults around like the pied piper AND trying to keep Lecter off the miner's backs. Only partially successfully, I might add. Although I did find it humorous that once after I was killed, the Valents immediately turned on Lecter and gave him what-for.

I suggest that next time we impress upon the defenders to NOT kill the bots, otherwise they respawn. And try to keep pirates from killing the bots, too, eh?

My guild was discussing the need for station defense to keep pirates away from miners that are returning to base.

Any suggestions on that?

Also any feedback (warm or cool) on how the events are developing?
According to my DB I have had 68 unique player names, with 21 participating multiple times including five players participating four or more times.

When we try to run the event in non UIT systems we run into faction issues for some particpants who are unable to join us or dock at the homebase. Also finding the correct bot difficulty is a challenege because it depends heavily on the skill level of the participants.

We have only had a few players drop out of the expeditions (not counted in totals), and these were due to the difficulty of the event. The common complaint was being pirated is not fun [edited for language]. However many other participants appear to relish the pirate interference because it requires cunning and coordination to sucessfully thwart the pritate while respecting the NFZ.

Had an AWESOME mining expedition this week. With two groups it was a little chaotic at first though—there were communication issues, we started off in a storm with tons of bots attacking from everywhere, and pirates were after us from the beginning. But after a while I think we pulled it together really well and suffered only minimal losses. Both defenders and miners did a great job. And Defense Ship 4 deserves some special recognition for his magical repair beam.

Great job, guys. And thanks to Obsidian for being so patient and cool-headed throughout the event, and for making all of this happen. I'm really looking forward to future expeditions!

Heh. I died lots, that is until I stopped being a miner. As a defender I liked the event more. I could go seek & destroy the pirates/bots.

Apologies go out to:
RelayeR (I guess you weren't a pirate, sorry 'bout that. Didn't see yer message until afterwards.)
tumblemonster (Sorry bout typekilling you - but it was just TOO easy, I followed your warp from I-3, jumped into F-4 right behind you and you were 200 m in front of me. The second time was NOT MY FAULT!)
SirCamps (Didn't know you were repairing, otherwise I could have stayed in the game longer.)
Obsidian (For attempting to be a miner when I shoulda been defending)

A big "thanks fer nuthin" goes out to Mecha who promised to defend me while I mined, but was AWOL as my protector for the whole event. LOL.

Last night’s mining event was the biggest one yet! We had 20 registered pilots (5 miners and 15 defenders), and communications chatter indicated that there were several unofficial players in the event sectors. Contrary to popular rumor, BLAK guild was fully present at the event with Borb II, Tumblemonster, and Martin sighted and reported to have killed miners or defenders. Rogue pirates Zet and Starbucks Ninja also tried to interfere.

We were able to recover a good amount of ore and pay all participants a good stipend.

TGFT will have a discussion with the stationmaster about protecting the docking bays from mines and we may choose a different home base because the current station does not offer much selection in ships or equipment. An advisory team is being formed by TGFT to research possible solutions.

Thank you for your participation.
We hope to see you at future TGFT events : Moth Racing in Sedina B-5 (Martin’s time 1:35 min, Obsidian’s time 2:25 min), Convoys, Blockade Running, and Mining.
