Everyone jump in at once and let the defenders peel the attacking bots off of the miners. That way, no "new" bots spawn as new miners trickle in.

I thought of that idea too, but I really wonder if we could be that coordinated. Also, I actually found it easier to just hang out near a miner and wait for new bots to come to you. The first sector we entered, I tried to fly around and shoot each of the bots, but it quickly turned into mayhem (new bots & players entering the sector, wondering "is that bot after a defender or a miner?", etc.).

Let's do it somewhere extremely dangerous, with Prosus Asssaults or something.

There is a chance that might actually work better (although, more work for the defenders). We've witnessed a sector with collectors increase the bot count as the number of players increased, but in my little test with Tycorps and A-47s no new bots entered the sector when Mecha jumped in. I wasn't trying to test this though, so maybe more bots would have jumped in later (or when more than 2 players enter the sector).

I would enjoy joining as a miner—or, if you need extra, a defender—on the 27th. However, I don't know if I'll be on then. Slightly tricky schedule.

I can see it now, We'll all line up to jump inot our dangerous sector and all get drawn into the same ion storm. ;-) We could mine in a storm but our escape route would be rather limited.

I have run two more mining events. One on Friday, May 27th and another on Sunday May 29th. Both events were well received.

TGFT will continue to run mining expedtions weekly. I may be persuaded to run a 2nd or 3rd event at another time if there are enough participants.

Only hard part about these mining expeditions: Ya just gotta get the defenders to follow orders and NOT kill the bots. Oh well. :)

I've been wanting to take part in one of these missions since you first invited us, but still haven't caught up with you. I'll be watching for future notices, though -- one day, I hope to join you.

Obsidian: Are you going to announce futere mission times and dates? Did you announce the last two? Or just announce it on 100 to who ever was on?

Next expedition is forming. We will continue exploration in AZEK system. We have begun to develop effective bot herding techniques and are ready for a systematic sweep of the sectors. AZEK has a few sectors that are very profitable and others that are real duds.

We seem able to do well in sectors with collectors but are still not ready for long term mining in sectors with tycorps.

I also would like to remind players that if we all mine the SAME asteroid we get a negative modifier to our heating factor so asteroid heats up slower than if we were mining it separately.

eh..klox last time i defended i had the entire sector bots following me i always have alot following me just becuase you cant decipher wich ones were mine in the swirling bot storm doesnt mean i was just flying around.Also i had to leave a few times so they did make it back.Perhaps you should rather worry about yourself than watching me and publicly attacking me in this very sad way.

What? Are you referring to when I said "I noticed that Mecha also had a big entourage"? That was a complement, not an attack! I was observing that there was at least one other defender that had lots of bots chasing him instead of killing them.

I've never intended to attack anyone in this thread. This thread has been very constructive and if I've pissed anyone off, I apologize.

Can you expand on this? Do more Tycorps jump in as more players enter, or is it that the defenders just can't manage what's there? If no new Tycorps jump in as the players enter the sector (like what happens in sectors with collectors), then it should be possible for one or two defenders to enter the sector first and lead them all away.

Mecha: I didn't think Klox was dissing you. You did a great job of defense leader last Friday, and I hope you will continue. You seem to have Pied Piper down to a science.

Klox: I don't think we ever really gave Pied Piper a good try on Tycorps. Hope you can make it and we can try Friday.

Klox, Obsidian was referring to the fact that several of the defenders were killing the bots instead of shooting them once and running, and the Tycorps would respawn and tear up the miners until a defender could get there last Friday.

Artemis collectors were no big deal, but the Tycorps can get evil quickly.

Oh, and me trying to type orders and impacting into an asteroid when I was leading around 15 bots didn't help. Those 15 bots immediately turned on the miners. Mecha was able to corral most of them before they did TOO much damage. (Sorry, spuck, Obsidian)

I will be at a graduation till shortly before the event so one of the TGFT will be registering players and advertising on Friday.

Hi, I'm Broma-Ba Silck and I'll be your pre-event host. Post here to pre-register as a defender or miner. Or, just show up about 15 before starting time, and I'll sign you in then. Start time is 2:00 GMT/9:00 p.m. CDT.

The intrepid group of miners and defenders took on their toughest bots yet, facing Orne and Fennus Guardians, TyCorp and Valent Assualts, and the odd collector bot here and there. Led by rookie squad leader Broma-Ba Slick, they overcame the leadership vacuum and scooped up 1.5 million credits worth of ore. Thanks to all who mined, defended or did a little of both.

I try to use the top price for the ore to calculate the total cash value. This means we report the maximum values for ores collected.

We try to break even and compensate all participants, both miners and defenders. This means the miners may receive less then they would if mining solo but we at TGFT feel the group experience and the knowledge gained is worth more than the credits. We will also compensate players for their time and efforts even if the mining mission is relatively unproductive meaning, we have run the mission and lost credits.

As Azek is used more by other groups we will continue to move into new territories including Itani and Serco Space.

We have also added a new position for the mining expedition: SCOUT. We need one or two scouts who can quickly scan the sector for ore types and help us detemine if a full out mining expedition is warrented in the sector. This player may have to equip a scanner and a weapon so they can safely travel through the sectors.

Next Mining Event is MONDAY 6/6 at 8pm CT (1:00 GMT)

If the bots aren't enough of a challenge for you, don’t worry. I am proud to announce that we have attracted the interest of several pirate guilds. This has increased the demand for experienced fighters to help defend the miners from these pirate threats.

As always TGFT will provide monetary compensation and Combat XP to full participants.
