No that is tolerance and understanding. Self restraint is restricting your own fun as to not ruin the fun of the game world , ergo don't run since it ain't fun, don't swear since it sickens the game world, don't smachtalk since... but within borders
And please stop stating that killing stuff is only part of an fps... Having no reason to kill anyhting, is spacequake. An rpg gives you a reason for doing fedex quests, or killingsprees. Aka reinforce the itani serco border, we need your help in taking down 2 itanis making fun of our border patrol protection. If you do this you will be greatly rewarded...
And accepting a death in a game is having respect for the opponent, for the way how he fought. If he fought valiantly you might even pardon him and let him loose. Since it is more fun to meet that opponent again in the next round (PS: look at movie kingdom of heaven). In any game there is a reward for accomplishin something. And adding a number to a pk count is just as well a reward as any other.
And if you don't agree, then lets just kick out the pk count. Sinc ein all honesty, if you keep disagreeing... then I will only agree if you take that out. Although I would still be annoyed if some person fled after I put my time into fending off his attacks. And golly I wanna see him explode... thats what he deserves for attacking me (if I succeed in fending him off, if I don't then I will be the explosionanimation). It adds some to the satisfaction of beating someone.

agreed, by all means lets get rid of the PK count, while we are at it, lets get rid of the kill/death ratio as they have long outlived thier usefulness.

personally I feel sorry for the people that hop in, make a largely ineffectual attack and then run away after getting creamed. It cant be that much fun to get your ass stomped every time you try to kill someone.

After all, killing us would be fun for them. by defeating them and making them run away you are allready ruining thier fun, maybe they look at running away and denying you the kill as being the only way they can get revenge on you because YOU ruined THIER fun.

Well seeing as they impede on my fun, I have the right to judge them. I have however not got the right to make them play the game how I want it. But nothing stops me from not playing the game like they wanr to play it. This however ruins the entire pvp concept since whats the point in pvp then? Seeing as pvp is there to test your 'skill/abilities' agaisnt other people. But if you (not YOU, but more general) don't accept any loss, then how are you ever going to test your abilities? Since I sure as hell am not going to spend 1 ounce longer on a person that will not stick to the last breath. Unless I gave him hte permission to go. Especially considering the fight ain't over untill the fat lady sung, not to mention that those borderline fights are generally the most fun ones.

And running defies pvp as pointed out above. Knowing this people should self restrain them from running. I can't force them... but I can however not play the game in their way or not choose to pvp with them if they exert that behaviour.

I dont mind people who run, so they dont affect my fun in the least, if they affect your fun, well you (personally you in this case) have every right to not interact with them if you dont want to play with them, but spare us the "people are responsible for the fun of others" argument, because it doesnt hold water.

Phaserlight, bottom line: You attacked and ran away, repeatedly. Then you came on the forum and said "...I came back and made swiss cheese out of him with rails", which was a lie. Most of the time you weren't using rails, and the only kill you got was with UPNs assitance. You then made some ill considered remarks about how your duel stats were higher than mine, and therefor you were the better pilot (Your pirate twin brother is now on the first page of the duel stats). You also suggested we fight for the right to play VO, which is rediculous.

No one here is invincible (yeah, tumblemonster, you aren't either). And running is a well cherished tradition for several BLAK as well (at least two names pop into my mind immediately). So, just forget about him and settle the issue. It's not worth it.

The real bottom line is: WHO CARES? I'm not interested in arguing facts of the past, and this is one very dead horse we are beating.
My original intent in creating this thread was to work out a contest using identical ships, winner takes all. Since you passed on that I have no desire to watch this degenerate into a whining match.
