So by my calculations, with the number of ACTIVE Serco players and ACTIVE GUilds out there, if we count this new bunch of naive whippersnappers as a Guild, it comes to a bout 1.05 Sercos per Guild. Nice.

I predict yet another Guild with only three players on at the most, at any given time after its creation in-game. Wouldn't be surprised if some alts are created in order to make this Guild happen.

Pay 50k and become a bountyhunter. Every nation has them. Most of active players are bountyhunters.
Guild of bountyhunters? Gah. Call it VO.

And it's almost impossible to reclaim bounties since people who has a prize on their heads ask their friends to kill them and give them the money.

I think this is a bit stupid. Takes the fun from the bounty system.

Not EVERYONE asks there friends to take there bounties and give it to them. Besides, the bounty system right now is not that great anyway. Needs much work to be any real fun IMO.

Point : Stop thinking in terms of the VO broken bounty system.

A guild of bounty hunters can work. Myst is doing a good job as a bounty hunter. I don't see why can't a guild of people like Myst grouping up to hunt down people. As far as I know, some guilds like BLAK already do that. So what's wrong with this new guild?

<rant>

Now if this guild belly up and die, then that's the fact of life in VO : not all guilds live long and prosper. But, why don't you just let them try? Like gamer2004 says : if you are not interested, just look elsewhere. No need to post your l337ness and discourage people who pays 10bucks per month to have fun, like you do.

Why I harp on new guilds being created is that most new guilds that are created are exactly the same as other guilds that are already established. They don't bother to check out any of the pre-existing ones and end up getting a few player to create some alts, making the older guilds temperarily loose a few players. All the while, it's just spreading the player base even thinner then it already is. Being in a guild with 3 players on at one time is not being in a guild, it's a waste of time!

Why not just routinely team up with each other for a few weeks, then if you attract enough followers and like minded individules, then create the guild. It gives you time to figure out exactly what your all about and get a core membership together that all know each other and their styles of play.

Creating it just to have a cool name that everyone will be envious of is not a good reason.

But do what you like, I'll just get ready to say I told you so when the number of members of the guild drops below 5 in a week. =)

Do the Pants of Eternity still fit? Or has the Waist of Time expanded over the years? ;)

(I'm sorry, that typo just spoke to me. It said "Nerde, if you pun it, they will groan")

Nerde that was perfect.

Apart from that regretable typo Nerde so aptly pounced on, Johnwhatsisname hit it on the head, both on Guilds with too few people on and how Guilds should be created. The first condition won't be corrected until the player-base is expanded (which we can hope for once the mission editor is ready and content starts pouring into the game), and the second already exists, CLM being aliving proof of it: bunch of B8 fighters getting together and forming a Guild. I think SKV is in the same case, since it SEEMS so far to be made up of escapees from that rotting carcass, IDF.

So, for the moment, setting up Guilds with entry restrictions (like "no Itani") and made up of complete strangers, though not impossible in the least, won't make for a durable Guild. It's the ones made up of a core of active friends with similar values that work best so far, so yeah, fly around, meet and hook up with some people, and when and IF you feel you should, start a Guild. Any other way and it won't last.

/me groans.
(But nice pun Nerde. Hehe)

There's been some discussion of cleaning up the guilds before. Right now anyone can make a guild with 2 or 3 friends.

I'm all for some kind of guild "pruning" program where V-O keeps track of active players and removes those players from guilds if they don't sign in for over 30 days. If the guild drops below 10 members it is dissolved. Guilds that last for 3 months or more are considered "established". Guilds that last for 6 months are considered "Esteemed" , etc. Give some kind of bonus to guilds that stick around for a long time (Once the guild pruning procedure is in place.)

Think of the chaos that the ease of creating guilds will create when V-O goes commercial. We'll have 20,000 guilds. And 10,000 players. :)

I say fix it now before more players start streaming in.

Once some simple guild guidelines are set up, I say let the "market" decide on which guilds survive and which do not. The sucessful guilds will make it and others won't. New guilds will pop up all the time, and some will make it past the "probationary" period and some will not. It will all work itself out. So I say players should feel free to create as many guilds as they like, once the well-established rules are in place.

Then we can all stop complaining when someone tries to start a new guild.

I'll summarize this in suggestions post as well...
