The Capture the Samoflange event has been modified to accomodate three teams:

Itani: For Itani who are in good standing with the Itani Nation.
Serco: For Serco who are in good standing with the Serco Dominion.
Other: For all UIT and any Itani or Serco who are less than -600 with their own nation.

Rules:
Ship Layouts
• All ship layouts are allowed. If you can store it or buy it, you can use it.
• We ask, however, that while you don't have to home in the station that you have to deliver to, that you do home in Latos during the event. Thanks.
Team Setup
• All teams will consist of a group of up to eight players total—seven of these will be competing players and the last (the group creator) will be the group monitor.
• All players on a team will be able to attack all players not on their group.
Team Home Sectors
• The "Itani" team will start in Latos C-2, Epsilon Hold (Xang Xi Barracks).
• The "Serco" team will start in Latos N-15, Remley Orbital (TPG Commercial).
• The "Other" team will start in Latos N-2, Latos Mining (Orion Mining).
• Keep in mind that you can stockpile ships prior to the event in order to bypass the obvious handicap of being in a station that does not sell a ship that you want to fly during the event.
During the Game
• No player may come closer than one kilometer (1km) to the samoflange or the GM (Miharu) until the GM has cleared the starting area and given the signal to begin the round. Failure to comply will result in a reset of the round.
• All players are required to state over group chat if and when they have picked up the samoflange. Failure of a player to provide this information will result in a disqualification of the round should the player attempt to deliver the samoflange. If a player supplies false information (ie, that they have the samo when they don't, that they don't have the samo when they do) the round will be disqualified.
• A delivery consists of dropping the crate of samo within 20m of the observer at your team's home station so that the observer can verify it. This person will also be your team's group monitor.
• The first team to an amount of points determined at the start of the game is the winner, and all of the players on the team will recieve a free crate of samoflange as a prize.

Procedure:
After being sorted into their groups and homing at their group's station, the groups (sans the observers, who will wait at the groups' respective home stations) and the GM (Miharu) will move into Latos H-9 or another neutral sector, preferably with asteroids.

When all players are 1000 or more meters from the GM (who will stop somewhere in the middle of an asteroid field), the GM will release one (1) Samoflange crate. The GM will be given time to move away from the crate. When the GM is ready, they will broadcast to the sector the signal to start.

After the starting signal, the groups will try to carry the samoflange widget back to their station. If the widget times out for some reason, the round is reset and another widget will be released in the manner described above.

To count as a delivery, the person with the Samoflange must come within 20 meters of the observer and jettison the crate so that the observer can verify it. The observers will be stationed outside the stations next to the docking bay most directly in line with the warp-in point from L-13. Combat within the NFZ is allowed as long as the observer is not killed. If the observer is killed, that delivery is considered disqualified, and the round will be retaken.

As a prize, the members of the first group to three (3) points will be given a crate of Samoflange to keep.

w00t! In for t3h othz0rs!!!

But why keep those under -600 away from their nation? I think it would be confusing if there was a mix of nations in the other group. An itani could easily mistake an other-team Serco as part of the Serco team.

Also...if the Itani's were about to score...could I report I had the samo when I didn't to DQ the round? ;-)
Same w/ killing the observer. I believe we need harsher penalties.

As for how to know who's on your team, they're going to be grouped under their Monitors, so if he's not on the group list, he's not one of yours.

Are you kidding me!? With good Xang Xi standing, you have a Barracks station! All the weps and ships you could want!

"Keep in mind that you can stockpile ships prior to the event in order to bypass the obvious handicap of being in a station that does not sell a ship that you want to fly during the event."

That sentence right there says "Stockpile until your fingers bleed" to me.

I am willing to switch the stations around, but I need two things: more people to sign up, and a majority of said players to agree to switch the stations around.

I just did a quick look up, and in the year 2005, 12/9 was a Wednesday!

And...uh...to honor those who did that thing in 2005--

Bah! Never mind RP! Can we move it do a weekend? Or if it's going to be on a Wednesday, I can't make it unless it's between 0:01 - 1:00 GMT or 3:30 - 6:00 GMT

EDIT: nvm, looking at nov. calender

*smacks fooz with a calendar written in BIG, bold letters.*

Here. Maybe this will clear up any future temporal issues you have.

You might as well remove fooz from the list. He'll show up for the event around March on a monday, and will swear that was the appointed date on the thread.

Then again, this isn't rising enough interest from UIT or Serco.
