Furball Event for the Day (177th Nation War)

The 177th Nation War is more or less void due to peytros constantly interrupting it and general chaos. This Nation War does not count and so next Sunday will be the 177th Nation War.

Niki and The Aviator were the last actual contestants to survive the... event with the winning prize of 2 million despite interruptions by peytros and Ardenus. Both are banned from future Nation Wars until they apologize to the contestants.

There are still disputes about joining teams so I would like to remind everyone that Nation War is bound by those terms, if you want to not be bound by those terms then there will be another event to meet the needs and wants but it will not be Nation War.

There is no player list as the disorganization of today's event got in the way of host trying to doing his job.

lol! The guy interrupts the event because you banned him, so you ban another one? Not to mention Yoda who definitely DIDN'T drop his mouse or "forget" what he was doing when he attacked you in the new sector!

Keep banning people and enforcing ridiculous rules because you don't know how to use the "target in front" button and today will seem sane.

I'm all for banning peyclown and anyone who associates with him. From any event whatsoever, for any reason. Heh.
So I'm with surby on this.

The fact that one or two mean-spirited people can essentially delay and even ruin an event that most of the VO community enjoys is deplorable. This reminds me of Spacehunter and Ayn swarming the contestants for Corporate Sector runs and Deneb Runs, it reminds me of Blackhole Goldclaw L-mining the Odia M-14 station, it reminds me of Arolte and his spam-and-run tactics.

Some people get their "fun" by ruining the fun for others. That's just sad.

Yeah, because that's worked out so well so far...

How about unbanning the little fucker?

Seriously, banned people (specially childish 12 year olds like peypey) just end up being a pain in the ass on the long run, as peytros has been so kind to demonstrate.

Its only natural that those players will seek revenge in what they believe to be a righteous cause. Nothing can be done to succesfully stop them. Not with the current system. You can kill them but they'll just be back again and again and again.

So unban him, he said he had his reasons for what he did last time (the thing that got him banned the first time). So give him a second chance, see how it plays out. See if he's willing to play by the rules. If he is, great! If not, nothing changes and we are back to the usual stuff.

Old pirate vets hate Arolte, but love peytros. Weird.

Shadoen: I would agree with you if peypey stoped being a pain. But after the first time he did it again an again. That is not a good reason to unban him. If he spent the last few months being a good netizen/VO citizen then i would agree that he should be unbanned.

We should not reward bad behavior. Until he stops interrupting events he should be baned.

Banishing doesn't really work in the current game mechanics. If the host is unable to project authority with polite requests then we are all out of luck.

Unfortunately, as Surbius appears unable to do this, we need to look for a replacement.

I am willing and able and shall assume control next Sunday if there are no other serious contenders.

Peace,

I'm actually happy that we have someone like peytros, or had ayn and spacehunter and arolte.
Without them the game would be far more boring..

The only annoying thing is that everyone else is acting like a whiny bitch.

The reason why peytros is banned in first place is due to his inability to respect the rules stating that when a player has been killed they are out of the match and may observe in an EC-class ship. He interrupted the Nation War deliberately despite being out and not being banned and then was subsequently banned for doing it again.

What assurances do you have that he will not do the same acts if he is unbanned?

And who hosts the Nation War is primarily determined by who the participants are willing to accept. Anyone can undermined the host's authority but disrupting the event for personal revenge or malice then that is clearly unacceptable and misplaced which comes with consequences.

Those that are banned know what they can do to become unbanned. Merely apologize for disrupting the event, just words, they don't even have to mean it as long as they are willing to play the game.

To 'unban' someone because the participants can't act together to repel the offending player is only showing that player has power over them. It will only feed that player's desire for more unjust appeasement in their favor.

If the participants are unwilling to fight for their event then I wish for no part of it.

Actually Moldy, Alrote was quite a hard target to actually snag, although I did pop him a few times, he usually got away, which is what I think everyones problem with him was. The fact that it was possible to become immune by staying near "warp out distance" and warping when in danger was a broken game mechanic, and he was free to use it. That has now been fixed though so hmmm.

As for peypey, he's cute, I don't usually attack him.

[edit]

Oh yah, and about *fighting for nw* it just turns it into a chase peypey day, or whoever's trying to fuck it up day, he's not the first, nor will he be the last. Chasing him about aint the answer, I'm sorry.

The "We do not negotiate with terrorists" policy does not apply here.
It doesnt matter how many times you kill peypey, nothing stops him from respawning at a station nearby, buying his usual douchebag loadout and going out again to disrupt the event.

Btw, whatever happened to that huge battle sphere thingy that was being suggested some time ago?

Try to cling to your role if you want, just know that the event will probably go smoother if I run it.
Jun 22, 2009 vIsitor link
I want to know how he's tracking you down to your chosen NW sectors in the first place. Can't you just keep that sort of information privy to the event organizers, and then the participants once the event itself starts? Hard for him to disrupt an event if he doesn't know where you are.

Think I said it before in some other thread: have guide present at the event.
They have numerous means to deal with that kind of behavior.
For example... guide can reset all his levels to 0, set all his standing with nations and factions to KOS and reward him with a few hundred /oper kills for a good measure.

Remove his bragging rights and he will just go and cry to his momma about injustice spoiled brats have to live with in VO.

Peace and tranquillity in-game.
