Well, I haven't been in-game recently but I guess it is apparent enough that some people's limits have been breached. This is unfortunate and something to be addressed but it does not give license to dispense further incivilities. People can, and will speak as they choose, but responsibility for uttered words is the speaker's alone.

I really do wish we could all get along and be friends. I know this will not be but I try to dissolve unhappiness where I am directly involved. While I think it is fair to ask those who will deal with me to be respectful I am not going to police my friends and neighbors. I am far too limited to do so fairly.

So. This is rather boring but I don't think it was quite clear where I was coming from before.

In the future, I hope that instead of retaliating when tolerance is exhausted, it is communicated clearly that lines have been crossed.

We can establish diplomatic subsections on CHRN's forum (kharonsshores.com) if you like. I think I'd like it anyway. :)

There's also a difference between hating someone and hating someone's character. You don't have to do any roleplaying at all to realize that this is a freaking game. With a few exceptions the people who play it are mature enough that there is no excuse for the kind of childish bickering and whining that goes on here every now and again. If you're getting that angry at a videogame, get up and walk your dog, mow your lawn, watch a movie with your girlfriend, or whatever.

Specifically in relation to this issue: Gramps suggested that he (his character) was holding a carnival event, and his enemy was going to make a guest appearance as a target. It would have been horrible rp for Impavid to react in any way other than he did. Imagine if during WW2 Hitler had gotten on the radio and announced that he was hosting an event for anyone who wanted to to engage in personal combat with Winston Churchill, and pay them 5 years worth of rations if they won. Gramps' initial reaction was incredibly childish ("You guys won't play by my rules so I'm taking my ball and going home and telling my mommy!"), but hopefully he has gotten around to realizing what went wrong.

All of this anti-CHRN, anti-VPR, anti-TGFT, anti-whatever ado is understandable and in fact good when done in a proper rp fashion, but just sitting around and blasting each other personally is not helpful or constructive (or fun, for that matter. That's ultimately the point of a game, right?).

If playing this game causes your blood pressure to rise that much, it might be advisable for you to find a different passtime. I've heard that gardening is great fun.

Oh, and jborderman, the easiest way to guarantee pirate attention is to taunt them. Allow me to demonstrate:

"Impavid is easily the weakest pirate in the entire guild; for Eo's sake, he flies ATLASes most of the time! In fact, I once killed him in his so-called "Atlas of Doom" whilst I was piloting a child's space scooter which fired gobs of mashed potatoes."

Now, Impavid will come back with a retort, then I will log into the game at some point in the future and the smack talk will lead to an inevitable confrontation, where I will most likely PWNZOR him again. Except this time, I will likely skip the starship altogether and face him in nothing but a space suit, I will effortlessly crush him in his pitiful ship with hand-to-ship combat. And I'll wear soft gloves so as to not bruise him too much. It's only sporting.
