A note about 5v2

Sep 14, 2009 DivisionByZero link
So, these things are usually pretty straight forward. If you get into them, the outcome is pretty predictable.

CHRN
---------
[CHRN]Chaakin Tockoa
[CHRN]Smaug the Terrible

Anti-Pirate Coalition
---------------------
[VPR]Niut
Teirl
[ONE]Star Buck
The Hawk
Growler

So, when CHRN came out on top, it should be no surprise. ;)

GFs guys. It was loads of fun.

I fought the first half of this and then left in disgust. I have a message for a couple of you:

Niut: Stop running like a punkass. It's just sad. Lose like a man.

Teirl/Serygyn: Stop fighting. Your lag is so unbelievably bad I'm surprised you don't simply lag out. You're impossible to hit with energy because you literally skip across the screen. It has to stop.

The rest of you: Quit with the bang and run bullshit. It may be hard core good tactics, but it's bullshit and you know it. Denying the other team the kill and running away is a punk move, especially since we hang around till the death no matter what you do. Fight like a man, have a little honor biches.

Sounds like they used a very very valid tactic. One that has been used repeatedly by at least one member of CHRN and was used by another griefer guild before that. Only if it is consentual combat would they be forced to show you that honour. Since you (CHRN) are not only KOS but extremely hated by almost everyone in the game it becomes a matter of eradicating you, not fighting you! So I'd suggest that you take the route of old THC and stop whining.

That said, if you lag very badly (Teirl) you should probably take up mining instead. It is not fun to fight a grasshopper.

byw, if you left in disgust, they achieved their goal......

That is the goal of a griefer: force other players to leave in disgust. Good job vipers, you're tops. Furballs are no longer fun for me.

On the plus side its near impossible for the other guy to hit you much when he lags that badly. And at this point tumble, none of us really need the extra pk's for anything, but yea the hit and run bullshit is annoying.

hit and run with a fast ship? turboing around and running away before you can be killed? that is the prefered tactic of peytros, k'metreq, and fusionburn. isnt peytros in chrn? hes been doing that nonstop with his valk in furballs for months. sounds like people are finally just learning to give you a taste of your own medicine. the only difference is that the pierats whine about it like little girls. hahahaha.
Sep 15, 2009 peytros link
actually my prefered tactic is kill everyone and go repair i know its easy to confuse with hit and run but when i do it no one else is left in the sector :P

very impressive CHRN! 5v2 can be disheartening, but it sounds like you stuck with it and came out on top.

And why is a 9 billion credit thief whining about honor and calling people punks? 5th grade vocab and 4th grade manliness hahahahaha
Sep 15, 2009 rok link
oh you dont have to lie peytros. who you trying to trick? dont want impdavid to find out about how you fight? we all know what you do and you know what you do. you run away with plenty of people left in the sector chasing after you. wouldnt want to lose a nice valk would you? so chrn run troll whine and lie. nice people! hahahaha.
Sep 15, 2009 peytros link
the thing here is the distinction between being on the minority side of a gangk or the majority side yes if three people are after me and i manage to take out one or two then yes im going to leave because it's stupid to stick around otherwise. but if you are on the majority side of a gangk and have to run to live well then maybe you need to re-evaluate your pvp tactics

has someone just said THC?

: )

The Homicidal Cult - [THC]

We are the THC, and we will pwn you* (*or at least try to). We will not whine if you pwn us. We are an anti-whining guild, whiners deserve nothing more than death, But we are also pro death, expect a visit from one of us soon.

Hit and run is a valid tactic in a fight where you can't keep coming back, such as in NW, or in a fight over some objective (CTC, or any convoy really)

In a skirmish, where both sides are going to keep coming back, not staying until the present skirmish is concluded is kind've a jerk thing to do.

Cuz really, no one is fighting over an objective, you're just there to have fun blasting each other... so why deny the kill?

Do you really want the other side to get annoyed and stop showing up? Wouldn't that be boring?
Sep 15, 2009 look... no hands link
yes shape, that's exactly what it has devolved into. and im not being sarcastic.

some newb said: why is a 9 billion credit thief whining about honor and calling people punks?

Honor is the only thing that matters in this game. It's infinitely more valuable than credits or your "leet skillz."

In general, the running is only a valid technique in things like Nation War or in Deneb when you're attempting to achieve an ingame objective. Or maybe CtC, if anyone bothers with that anymore.

If you are a skilled player, it is honorable to attempt to stay to fight 2 v 1 or 3/4/5 v 1 if you think you can do so. If you die, so be it, but your opponents know that it took multiples of them to bring you down.

If you are a skilled player, it is honorable to stay in the sector until someone can make you leave (i.e. kill you).

Denying the kill for an opponent who has earned it is the height of dishonor, in this game where death means nothing but a short trip back to the station for a refit.

Like my hail says, "The fight's the thing."
Shape is spot on when he says Do you really want the other side to get annoyed and stop showing up? Wouldn't that be boring?
Sep 15, 2009 peytros link
actually leber your hail says "not in the face not in the face" which i think stems from some personal issues we don't need to delve into on the forums
Sep 15, 2009 TurnTable link
mr. Mac I agree completely with you, and have never run from a fight in mí life. Little boys just deserve to be mocked for their hypocrisies!
Sep 15, 2009 DivisionByZero link
Boy, this devolved really fast. I was just saying I had fun and GFs.

I would go repair at points - but this was only at times when I was pretty sure the other team had all been boomed at least once and started to return in fresh ships. Call that running or whatever, but I don't fancy flying a fresh ship down from Jallik just because the other team insta-respawns and comes back in.

I much prefer the idea of "rounds" to these things, but that's probably not going to happen in such a casual furball.
Sep 15, 2009 Impavid link
Repairing after just vanquishing the other team, or when you've gotten all but one and there are 6 people on him, is fine. I often repair when there's one opponent left and 3 or 4 of my teammates are on the guy. He's gonna die, might as well give him a bit of a chance. What is happening now is the anti-pirates are running away when they're losing a battle, in some cases they're outnumbered but other times they're simply damaged and about to lose the fight. It's a punk move, it's not honorable and frankly we pirates have more respect. It's a Roda Slane move, it's a k'metriq move. It's bad form and the Viper's are better than that, or at least they used to be.
