im sick of you fat **** basement dwellers calling us griefers just cause we pwn your ass over 100 times a night. Maybe if you space virings learned that hello kitty was that way --> people would enjoy the game.
What DID they put in the turkey this year? Chill out with the abusive language. I understand your irritation, but don't get muted over it. (I added the asterisks)
whister - im sorry for my foul language this post happened after a long thanksgiving party but it is quite annoying to hear how only CHRN is ever singled out as being a griefer guild, sure there have been times when I haven't hailed someone but more often then not either that person already knows who i am or is on the "i do not pay pirates list".
I hear you, and I do understand your frustration, but it was quite clear you were...disinhibited when you posted. Never a good idea, and we've all been a little edgy around here recently.
I understand that many things are said in jest, but the call CHRN griefers fad is stale and non-constructive. I'd appreciate an apology.
My statement was to broad. I admit I am a bit biased because of course I'm a VPR.
Now a more appropriate statement may have been to say CHRN includes some griefers.
Look at the definition - "to irritate and harass other players, rather than in pursuit of game objectives. The term is also used to mean a person who uses the internet to cause distress to others as a prank."
I try not to let these posts affect me:
"im sick of you fat **** basement dwellers"
"Strat has turned your awesome guild into a big fat bunch of crazy Zealots! Even Growler, once an honorary CHRN for his tenacity in the face of terrible odds and no skill, has turned into a mean fanatical douchebag."
"It is dark; I hope you are eaten by a grue."
But I don't think specific CHRN says those things to make people feel good about themselves. "to irritate or harass..."

By that same definition, VPRs would also qualify as "griefers".
Apparently, in VO, a griefer is someone who doesnt play like you want him to, by your rules.

I agree. [CORN] are not griefers. They are much much worse. They're mamas' boys.
Bwaaahahahahaha.
Bwaaahahahahaha.
This is shockingly constructive. Where am I?
We don't play VO as it wasn't intended to be played and we don't play to cause grief to others. I'm not aware of any griefers currently playing VO. It's that simple.
Resistance37: As I said before, If someone thinks that the RoC are being broken then they need to alert the authorities. Throwing crap back doesn't make this a better game.

Maalik, I have never intentionally called you a griefer (and if I have, it was a slip of the tongue), and therefore refuse to apologize for doing something I did not do.
As for some of the other members of CHRN... your comments on 100 and the boards can be insanely abusive. Rarely ever does a VPR member (do not throw at me the words of MiTs or Recruits, they are not full members yet) throw similarly abusive words back on public chat or even private chat with so little provocation. Even when extremely provoked, most VPR members do not respond in kind to your posts. These comments are why we sometimes refer to some of you as 'griefers'. That and the habit a few of you have of killing the newbies in Dau.
Per my responses to Lecter and Ladron on the boards in the past few weeks... my apologies. I tried to reign their posts in, it failed, I'm done. My posts were an attempt to enforce the "be nice" policy, which I readily admit is not my job.
EDIT:
For clarification:
RoC = Rules of Conduct
ToS = Terms of Service

It seems we have entered "The Twilight Zone"!

impdavid admited he broke number 12 to. btw this is a response to pointman.
Honestly guys, how many times do we have to go over this same subject? There are a lot of people in this game that at some point or another do things that cause grief to other players, do these people do this in the hopes of totally ruining the game for this person and making them not want to play? Sometimes I am sure it is the case, and in the past we have had some that were famous for it, that was their sole purpose in being here. But on the whole I think it is simply a case of different styles of play.
I know a lot of the members of both CHRN and VPR, they can be pains in the rear from both sides. That does not make them griefers. Being attacked without a hail from a pirate, while not my personal code, should always be on the back of your mind. Will they or won't they?
The same goes for members of VPR, if you are a pirate or other shady type, you should expect them to attack you. Does not matter what you are doing, whether you are actively pirating or not, you accepted that distinction when you joined the ranks of those of us who choose to live outside what most consider proper law.
Now anyone that chases you from sector to sector, no matter what you are doing, constantly stopping you from enjoying the game, THAT is being griefed. But you flying into a sector with a pirate or VPR, whichever may apply at the time, and getting shot without a hail and either having to fight for your life or go boom, thats just a chance we all take each time we get into our ships.
As for rules of conduct being broken, it happens, the degree to which is happens is a different story. If you feel it has been a major offense, do as Pointsman said and report it to Guild, but if its a petty thing and you are just irritated, leave them be to work on this game we all obviously love or would not be playing.

Well said Mystic, and with considerably grace I might add.
I did not break 12, according to the devs this was a feature. By the way most of the times I logged out on the Vipers I did it within the ten second timer by typing /logoff. No exploit was used.
As for the rest, Vipers and everyone else can claim to be angels but you all know that's bullshit. I can't count the number of times I've been taunted and talked about on 100 without even saying anything.
My point stands: Pirates and griefers are two different things. If you attack someone for no other reason than to ruin their gameplay, you're a Vip.., err, Griefer.

People, is this ever going to end? Is there any common ground?

Damned if I know. There seem to be certain individuals on both sides with very strong opinions about the other side. I've found that when certain individuals play less, the rest of us spar in a much more friendly manner... and that when certain individuals play more, the sparing becomes more personal and nasty. These individuals with very strong opinions do all they can to make their opinions known, and will not accept reasonable attempts to make amends for the other party.
The common ground is with the other individuals who may get swept up in the very charged atmosphere. Threads like this one, and like Denji's, do a good job at reminding the cooler heads of the times when they have the most fun, and encourage them to act accordingly.

I've lived through every griefer in the game and they have never been a consistent issue at any time. Ever.
Therefore, the only conclusion can be that people who get griefed do it on purpose.
Dont want get griefed? go somewhere else in the HUGE FRACKIN UNIVERSE THAT IS ALMOST TOTALLY EMPTY
I, am quite literally at my whits frackin end with these posts lately. Escaping is easy, not dieing, easy, doing anything you need to do uninterrupted anywhere in the universe, quite, fracking, easy. There is no such thing as griefing. at all. thats it, i'm saying it.
Anyone getting griefed is a frackin masochist and I am sick of hearing about it. someone station stalking you, grab a frackin centurion and speed off into the corners of the night and not be bothered again, so bloody easy. Much better than "lets whine on the forums forever because we must fly into the jaws of death forever"
This is the easiest game I have ever played to not get killed in. the only time you die or get trapped is when you set yourself up for it, even newbs get a freakin centurion after the first bloody mission they do.
"but they stalk the wormhole i am going to"
Go the other way
"they follow me"
Scatter your nav rout into 5 or 6 empty sectors then go the other way
"They say things on 100"
Dont answer
"I want them to die"
Get better at fighting but don't talk about it on 100.
So, You have taken happy go lucky CrazySpence and totally pissed him off because you all suck at life, good job! I'm sure this post won't live long, enjoy it while supplies last.

Spense... I didn't think it was that bad a post. Newbs may need a more effective tutorial in running, however.
