Fail once again Alloh
Lecter, you had a good idea!
When you said Diversity, i was expecting that you was about to come out of the closet.!.!.!
What if, for contest purpose, the alt's name must (preffix|suffix} the name, like "PplName +" or "_OtherName"?
Alloh is an apt demonstration of why South America is the sorry, backwards collection of banana republics that it is today. It is little wonder that even the effeminate, lackadaisical Spanish were able to rape and murder his bickering forebears with such impunity. It is likewise unsurprising that Brazil spread her legs for so many of Nazi Germany's most subhuman criminals, giving them comfortable shelter for many years.
But the very best part is Alloh's total lack of awareness of his indisputable lack of intelligence, much less education.

Prof. Dr. mifune toshiro
...is a cautious, peaceful scientist/scavenger, rather bent on preserving the ship he is currently in and thus not fighting much, and oftentimes avoiding combat by flight. Think Akahige, or Doc Ido.
I suppose the opposite would be Kikuchiyo, a childish, belligerent Wanderer, rushing headlong into battles with little regard for the safety of himself and others, accepting every challenge.
Or perhaps Matsunaga, a jaded, typhoid gangster, always looking for easy profits and rotgut booze. Fights dirty, pirates dirtily, runs if faced with overwhelming odds.
Please note that I'm keeping the Mifune Toshiro theme, largely.

Way to enact Godwin's Law in your own thread, douchebag.
Good thing it was destined for failure anyway. There was almost a chance you might actually contribute something to the community without it being coated in vitriolic slime!
Phew.

"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."
Gav, yer lack of understanding of the nuances of Godwin's Law is saddening. By your logic, an expression of my contempt for the conduct of the Vichy French would likewise trigger Godwin's Law (since you seem unclear on this, that's an incorrect application of the Law); Brazil's complicity in sheltering Nazi war criminals is a historical fact, not a comparison. Please read and comprehend before citing -- thanks in advance.

There's more to it than simple comparisons. But as always, props on your ability to isolate a single bullet point and split hairs.
Your link's broad, unsupported characterization of the meaning of Godwin's Law is not Godwin's Law, and this is not USENET. Either rebut my point regarding Brazil's history on this issue, or concede the point ... for whatever relevance it may have.
Also, let's look at a slightly more relevant source than your FAQ. Notice the way in which Godwin himself applies the law, which he says is addressed to the "Nazi-comparison meme": http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/2.10/godwin.if_pr.html
No attempt at comparison or analogy, no Godwin invocation -- far from being a "bullet point," this is the absurdity at which the law is aimed. To compare someone or something to the Nazis or Hitler is to essentially commit an ad hominem fallacy; to cite a historical link between a country or group -- say Brazil or the Vichy regiem -- is entirely different, unless I'm arguing that historical link proves something else. I'm not.
I'm just saying that Brazil is a slimy, backwards excuse for a country -- and one piece of evidence of that fact is their sheltering Nazi war criminals -- but I am in no way analogizing them to Hitler or Nazis. Do not try and argue statutory interpretation with me, of all people.

So in one sentence you suggest my source isn't valid because it is referencing the original usage of the law in relation to USENET discussions, then in the next you attempt to use Godwin's original rationale for the experiment from 1990 as a more "relevant source"? Hilarious.
No, Gav, I'm attacking your source for its unexplained leap from "comparing" to Nazis to "mentioning" Nazis. Perhaps, being a specifically USENET oriented FAQ, that unjustified leap has more force there. But here, you're citing to Godwin's Law, not to USENET specific conceptions thereof. And the fact that the author is in no way associated with Godwin is just icing on the cake.
The amusing part is that you fail to explain why my argument about the "comparison"/"mere mention" distinction isn't entirely correct. Whine about made-up inconsistencies all you like, you're skewered and you know it.

Internet memes morph and evolve lecter, in much shorter time spans than Godwin's Law has been around. In fact, not many internet memes (which I will go on record and say is one of the most over used words, right up there with "viral"), have anywhere near a life-span as that of Godwin's Law.
Given that, when searching for "Godwin's Law" via google, my source is the second link after Wiki, I think it's safe to say it's likely a commonly utilized source for information on the issue, making it as solid a source as any you're likely to find on a topic as inconsistent as an internet meme.
And besides, Usenet is still in existence. Go figure.

So what's your point, Gav? That Godwin's Law has no fixed meaning, or that whatever logical statement that it might have once embodied has now been reduced to "NE mention of teh NaZiiizzz = teh THREAD FAIL LOLOLOLOL!1!11"?
If so, your invocation is meaningless. If not, your invocation is wrong-headed. Take yer pick, asswipe.

I guess that's the sort of black and white interpretation one would expect from a lawyer. Either way, my job here is done. Good luck with the contest douchebag.
If you feel there's a shade of grey that's applicable, the onus is on you to explain its relevance. You do not because you cannot. Ta.
Last word.
EVERYBODY DANCE NAO!
When did you guys start hating each other?
Not all of us share yer affinity for gay porn, Gav. Pls2self-modderatz? kthxbai

You must have a pretty high degree of self-loathing, Gav.
Me, I just enjoy conflict -- the more vitrolic and vicious the better.
