TGFT Falls Into Obscurity?

If inactivity and low recruitment are supposed to kill a guild, PA would have dissolved long ago, but it's very much still intact.

Ah, thanks for bringing that up. I was going to use PA as a case example. Right now, you're pretty much the only PA logging in. You're making exactly zero effort to gain new members.

Only one player logging in now and then, and zero recruitment translates to: a vegetable hooked up to life support. As good as dead in my book, unless you conjure up a miracle and resurrect it somehow.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to ride a behemoth through space without worrying about it turning into swiss cheese?

Not gunna happen while i fly in gray yarrr!

I like how Anti-TGFT players claim that we are inactive or not recruiting. We recruit 2-3 players every week, we filter out some of the bad eggs, and we have a good number of players active. The fact that you cling to this idea that players will be too scared of you and FAMY to join TGFT is laughable, considering SKV only has about 4 members active max, and FAMYs combat ability is laughable for a pirate guild. The more new players FAMY attacks, the more new players who realise you work with FAMY, the more new players will gladly join TGFT for the chance to watch you burn.

I also love hearing "TGFT has alienated the whole VO playerbase."

No.

A handful of Nationalists and pirates hate us, and newbs you've convinced that we are VO Nazis. A great number of the playerbase is neutral and friendly with TGFT, and they are rewarded for it.

Aye
I have always bin friendly shootin' TGFT!

It's weird how a 4-man show and few lousy, weak pirates can keep three stations away from you, your 20-strong dent fleet, and the overwhelming amount of VO population who support you, isn't it? Keep focusing on this fact, and maybe reality will finally click for you.

Also, you never answered my question. How are you building dent parts without access to stations?
Sep 30, 2015 jordanmorgan14f link
1. Don't act like EP doesn't have you all on an IRC alert system when the stations are attacked.
2. Though we are active, the players who are on at the same time don't feel the need to take the stations. We have other ways to build tridents.
3. Delusion is in fact harmful. Take your own advice before you state that TGFT is a dying guild, because every time I see 100 someone is talking about us. That's alot of attention for a dead guild.

Have you heard of this fable of the fox and sour grapes? In case you didn't get the education you deserved:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fox_and_the_Grapes

Stations are to you what sour grapes were to that fox.

Don't flatter yourself. As soon as it becomes old news and people become tired of talking about it, TGFT is history.

Keep fooling yourself joker. Btw what is your in game name?

And different than the fox, is that TGFT has enjoyed the grapes, very often, and for many years. Cognitive dissonance is not a factor here.

In early 21st century earth the remaining superpower nation invaded a third world country. Two months later the leader of the nation declared 'the end of major combat operations' under a banner reading 'Mission Accomplished." Eights years later the occupation finally ended with the majority of civilian and military casualties occurring after the premature declaration. But by all means: consider The Guild of Free Traders dead and insignificant. Pay no attention to those dark green ships carrying on guild business in corners of the verse not plagued by SKV & FAMY. To paraphrase a wise hero from another galaxy, far, far away, a long time ago:

"These are not the traders you're looking for."

joylessjoker is FAMY failure

"1. Don't act like EP doesn't have you all on an IRC alert system when the stations are attacked."

I was in FAMY until very recently, and at no point was I ever alerted about station attacks other than via the built in thing the game itself provides. So if you're trying to say that FAMY is a part of this hypothetical IRC alert system, you are mistaken.

Anyway, I don't see why you would complain about something like that in the first place. Leaving IRC running all day just in case there is an attack isn't really any different from just leaving VO itself running all day in windowed mode. If anything, relying on IRC instead results in slower response times (have to fire up the game and log in) as well as less reliability due to flaky relays. And if they can rally up their scarce buddies to defend their stations, why can't you rally up your supposedly very active membership? VO is at its heart a multiplayer game; complaining that other people play it that way is silly.

"complaining that other people play it that way is silly."

LOL don't even go there.

And I wasn't complaining at all, I was stating a known fact. the offline members are alerted of station attacks. Why bother attacking at the moment? If you don't understand the efficiency of IRC, Than no fault to you I suppose.

P.S. I was taking about SKV not FAMY

We are still building dents

With no station access the paths are limited:

1) Buy all the manufactured items

2) Build your dent parts while playing on an alt

If you are doing option 2 then it's not an argument for TGFT perseverance, it's more like dressing in women's clothing to avoid someone you don't want to see, not really something to brag about. If you are doing option 1 then you have passed from captains of industry to captains of capitol, and nobody needs you anymore.

@csgno

The Guild of Free Traders does not discuss tactics, techniques, and procedures in an open forum. Neither do we define success by the terms of those hostile to us. Now go about your business and we will do likewise.

@jordanmorgan14f

IRC has been in VO forever.
In 2004 when I was a Lt. in IDF we used it for ctc alerts so we don't have to sit in game waiting for it.
SOR & SCAR used it for the same purpose too.
IRC is a public service open to anyone who is willing to register and use it and a number of TGFT players use it too.

In-game alerts about station attacks are issued to all players who have owner & user key to the stations.
As a station key user, IRC receives those alerts too.

TGFT uses tsreknors strategically placed spy bots network with TGFT utilities plug-in active in arta, verasi, dau, nyrius, latos, pelatus & bractus to send information to TGFT about players & ships movements in those sectors in real time and those bots are online 24/7.
I think this is far more advanced alert and spying system then what simple IRC functionality will ever be able to provide.

Quick note: up until relatively recently, the VO-IRC channel was handled by FiReMaGe. A guide and generally well-regarded member of the community, despite being an itani.

Currently, the VO-IRC channel is handled by someone who is, to say the least, not FiReMaGe. Although he is also an itani.

PS: I voted for IRC at least as often as I vote for (IRC), you're not alone EP.
Sep 30, 2015 jordanmorgan14f link
What is your guys' point? I never complained about it. I'm aware of IRC and its purpose. I was stating that it would be pointless attacking their station when they will show up and take it back in 10 minutes. I'm not going to get in an ethical argument.

Oh of course, TGFT reserves the right to move the goalpost as much as it wants, to minimize and rationalize the current state of affairs into something acceptable to the feeble minds of its members.

Lost access to stations? Safety of cargo through gray can't be guaranteed? No problem! Play on non-TGFT alts! That's an excellent way to make TGFT as a guild irrelevant, because you might as well as stay logged on those non-TGFT alts indefinitely.
