Jun 14, 2003 shlomil link
The game worked perfect till now ...
but since it updated itself to 3.2.6 it crashes right after i press "Play Vendetta".

i use Linux Debian.
NVidia GeForce drivers.

Is it a problem only I have?
Jun 14, 2003 BusMasteR link
*Aaaaaaarghh*

And now it constantly crashes =(

The i've managed to get aaaall the way out of a station - without hitting any unessesary buttons - real ugly no fps, no textures, no nothing...

Redhat Linux
also with NVidia drivers (for a GeForge MX200 / 32Mb)

EDIT: btw - do u need more info (got errors.log etc)
Jun 14, 2003 shlomil link

Fatal Error: Couldn't open window.
Jun 14, 2003 BusMasteR link
Hmmm - it's not quiet the error i'm having...

let me hear... what gfxcard did you have?
EDIT: What does your XF86Config file say under:

EDIT: section "module"
EDIT: and
EDIT: section "device"
EDIT: driver "nvidia"

------------------------------------------------
My error causes game to do a direct crash -
I can't do anything - at all... It get's in

well , my bug occures right after the updater application. i can't play at all.

i also have another user with vendetta installed on my system. so i swiched users and ran vendetta 3.2.5 from ~/.vendetta/vendetta - without the update app. it worked - utill the connection part where it wrote "wrong protocol...bla bla" .. as expected.

that means that it's something that changed in the new update that is causing it and not something that changed in my system.

my card is NVidia GeForce 255 ddr/agp ..
alittle old but had no problems running vendetta so far.

I need to know how your /etc/X11/XF86Config looks.
In the sections "module" and "device" (the one containing: driver "nvidia")
Jun 14, 2003 BusMasteR link
I have mine running now... it was the NvAGP option...

I don't think that's wrong with yours though, still need the info from XF86Config to help
Jun 14, 2003 shlomil link
the device section from my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 :
----------------------------------
Section "Device"
Identifier "device1"
VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce 256 (generic)"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "NoLogo" "On"
# Option "DPMS"
EndSection
----------------------------------

the module section from my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 :
----------------------------------
Section "Module"
Load "dbe" # Double-Buffering Extension
Load "v4l" # Video for Linux
Load "extmod"
Load "type1"
Load "freetype"
Load "glx" # 3D layer
EndSection

My version also crashes :-(

I may have to install Windows just so I can get my Vendetta fix..... nah, instead I shall curb my addiction for just a little while until version 3.2.7 comes out.... or I try to fix it.

Definitely seems like an Nvidia problem... I have a GeForce 2 MX.

I have a hangover too.... <head pounds>

BTW, this is the error message I seem to get:

../../../gk/gkgl/refgl/texmanage.cpp(520) : glGetError() returned 'invalid operation'

Cheers,

hmmm - it seems like you don't have DRI (Direct Rendering).
I how ever don't know if this is needed, but it seemed like that on my machine (Was pretty easy under redhat - there it's installed with the system)...

try have a look at dri.sourceforge.net - i think...

It's my best shot - I had a Rage LT Pro that had problems and i got that working with dri...

I've though encountered problems here in 3.2.6 with this card.
will post thread on that error in linux...

donkey bandit

open your /etc/X11/XF86Config

under the line

driver "nvidia"

place (or change) to:

Option "NvAGP" "0"

it bumps 2d fps but you can play...
Jun 14, 2003 Spider link
Crashes here as well, no change at all in the system since last nights playing, so its the update (I haven't even restarted X ...)

it will get me inside the game, but as soon as it tries to load any of the models it will die...
Jun 14, 2003 donkeybandit link
Thanks Bus :-)

Trying it now......
Jun 14, 2003 ExaVolt link
Same problem for me, same logs as BusMasteR. It happens when 3D comes out (flying, ship selection).

Setting NvAGP to 0 works for me too.

Athlon 1.2GHz, GeForce 2 MX 400, all the latest driver, kernel and so on + XFS + ALSA.

Debian testing with XFree 4.2.1.
Jun 14, 2003 roguelazer link
I'm using a gf4 with nvagp unset (default is 3 I beleive) and no crashes here. What driver are you using? Maybe you need the new 43xx series...
Jun 14, 2003 donkeybandit link
I'm all up and running again! Hurrah!
Jun 14, 2003 BusMasteR link
The Redhat 9 have pre-installed XFree 4.3.?

so it's not there the problem is...
Jun 14, 2003 The Kid link
doesn't work here either, XFree 4.2.1, newest NVIDIA drivers, 2.4.20 kernel...
